Weather Watchers
Related: About this forumMan, the NWS's "upgraded" radar page is totally flaky.
Have to load several times before all the blank spots disappear -- it's slower -- loading alerts creates errors, so none are listed even when they're shown on the map -- apparently they're working on it. In the meantime, try this link: https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/map/? (Pan and zoom to find your location, use the settings tool in the upper left to see warnings etc.)

(34,119 posts)and out here I rely on it to show me when I need to get back to the house during storm and tornado season. I put Radar Now on my phone for safety and complained bitterly when I got a survey from the NWS.
Thankfully one of our news stations uses a service that calls my phone whenever my area us in the path of bad weather. Only when warned but that is enough. Around $10.00 a year seemed a bit steep but now it seems like a great price considering we are mostly left to figure it out ourselves.
Is this a part of the Trump move to privatize the weather reporting? I remember at one point he wanted people to pay for their weather info to support some of his big donors and that would allow him to cut the NWS down to a mere funky, funny weather man in a clown suit.
Whatever, I find the radar not at all helpful. It is ugly, hard to decipher, slow as molasses and just worthless.

(3,427 posts)The "new and improved" version is practically unusable. They really need to go back to the drawing board with that.

(11,686 posts)May be to blame. I noticed the old site became less reliable in 2017 and slowly became worse.
