Chilly East, stormy Plains, hot West: where weather could impact Memorial Day Weekend

A late-spring nor’easter will keep the Northeast wet and cold.

Normalcy is slowly returning after a fifteen month-long pandemic, prompting millions of vaccinated Americans to make plans for Memorial Day Weekend. Unfortunately for some, a chaotic weather pattern will bring inclement conditions that could put a damper on festivities.

In some parts of the Northeast, temperatures 20 degrees or more below normal will bring a bite to the air, while other waterlogged areas of the Plains will continue to deal with drenching deluges. Instead of heading to the pool, some may opt instead to huddle inside next to a fire with a good book.

Most of the tranquil weather will be relegated to the West, where high pressure is anticipated to bring clear skies and temperatures well above normal.
