Ms. Hammurabi- 미스 함무라비 South Korean legal drama

Ms. Hammurabi[2] (Hangul: 미스 함무라비; RR: Miseu Hammurabi) is a 2018 South Korean television series written by Moon Yoo-seok, the chief judge of Seoul Eastern District Court, and starring Go Ara, Kim Myung-soo and Sung Dong-il.[3][4] It is based on the screenwriter's own novel of the same name, which was first serialized in 2015 on The Hankyoreh...

Decent drama about judicial work in a Seoul Court. Office politics, ambition, corruption, ethics, idealism, reality, injustice and inequality portrayed from a dramatic perspective of working judges. Only sixteen episodes but well done. Broadcast in Korea on JTBC in 2018. English subs. High quality scripts.

Available on Viki.com.

Rather than dealing with large corporate cases or gruesome murders, the series features stories of desperate ordinary people, from the perspectives of three different judges.

I discovered the magnificent world of kdrama a couple months ago

I especially like romcoms and medical dramas. I've gone through most of the popular ones such as I am Not a Robot, the Coffee Prince, the Good Doctor, Oh my Ghostess, and the like.

I confess, though, on the 32 episodes ones, I often skip to the happy ending and then go back and pick up where I left off

Anyway, I was wondering what to watch next and Miss Hammurabi it is. Thanks for the recommendation!

I especially liked Father is Strange, pretty much a down to earth family drama, which is highly rated and well acted. Also, the interminable Only One on My Side, 하나뿐인 내편, a social parody, which is humorous and dramatic. I have another link with the Only One on My Side OST below somewhere. Father is Strange, is on viki.com as well. I think I may have watched Only One on My Side in Korean on Korvideo or Bada.com (no subs on either). Bada.com hasn't been functioning well lately and has a lot of security issues. I can't find Only one on Viki with English subtitles.

Another family drama on Viki, that I thought was good was All About My Mom.

Thanks for your program experiences. I think I've only seen I am not a Robot. I'll pass the others on here at home. You might like Doctors over on viki.

My all time favorites are the historical dramas: Empress Qi, Six Flying Dragons, Dong Yi, Jewel in the Palace, The Flower in Prison and The Great Queen Seon Deok.

Glamorous Temptation doesn't have a high rating over at Viki, but the contemporary drama about a powerful political family was intriguing and compelling if such things are of interest. I'm a history and poly sci type so my interests aren't exactly universal.

We have a Korean friend who named her dog Dong Yi, which I thought was hilarious.

I'm on episode 2 of Miss Hammurabi right now .

I like it because I found it engaging right off the bat. I liked the female lead character, Park Cha Oh-reum, because she's not a shrinking violet. Plus it's interesting that it's based on a true story written by a real-life judge.

Yes, I think that is one of her best roles, I've seen her in a couple of other historical dramas. I thought, well maybe I like this because I worked in a few courthouses, but I think it's genuinely entertaining.

I'm mistaken about 하나뿐인 내편, I translated it Only One on My Side, which is too literal. I found it at Viki.com with the title My Only One. This is a wonderful contemporary social parody. So it does have English subtitles at Viki. I can't believe I watched all 53 episodes without the translation, bugging my wife to explain the dialogue I couldn't understand. Duh.

However, because it's a current production, looks like it's in the premium pass, pay for access. It says 106 episodes, but there are about a half hour each, so it's really 53.

The program just ended today.
