So what's going on with Biden?

Last edited Wed Jan 13, 2016, 09:14 AM - Edit history (3)

First, there are the recent stories about Clinton.

Biden says that every day he regrets not running.

His wife is saying the same.

http://www.today.com/video/jill-biden--hard-to-hear-joe-biden-regrets-not-running-for-president-600285251857

Then there is the "story" of how Obama offered Biden financial support so he wouldn't have to sell his house. That was his only option? Really? This makes me think of the Clintons and their we are broke story.

http://www.smh.com.au/world/barack-obama-offered-joe-biden-financial-support-during-sons-illness-20160112-gm4ja4.html

Now Obama puts him in charge of curing cancer with a year left (and Joe said that is what he wanted to do as President in his speech that sounded like a candidate rather than someone withdrawing from the race).

People say Biden's comments were support for Bernie (or maybe to woo Bernie Supporters for a future run)? If the latter is the case, good luck with that. The mood of the electorate is not another establishment Democrat.

Note: And now all of the posts about Warren and why Bernie decided to run ..... In my opinion, Warren has demonstrated that she is not the fighter that we need. On Morning Joe they were talking about Kerry Warren, Biden Warren. If she is acceptable to the Establishments Democrats, that really begs a lot of questions.....

And then there is the push for Wasserman Schultz to resign. So we replace the Clinton puppet with an Obama puppet? If so, what a heck of a system.

Note: If the Democrats think they are just going to push Bernie to the side.... well I suggest you get ready for a backlash of epic proportions.

3. Elizabeth Warren can't help it if people speculate about her.

Maybe a friend of Elizabeth Warren told Joe Scarborough, "I hope she jumps into the presidential race if Clinton loses IA and NH."

If that conversation took place (maybe it didn't) that doesn't mean that Warren is considering jumping in this year. It just means that one of her friends is hoping.

Regarding Elizabeth Warren's acceptability to the establishment, Joe Scarborough will vote a for a Republican for president. In that sense, Elizabeth Warren isn't acceptable to him.

A politician that is acceptable to an establishment controlled by the corporations and 1%? That really says something about that politician.

5. Biden-Warren? Never.

Biden sponsored the bankruptcy bill that Warren despises. (and rightfully so.)

6. We don't know who talked to Joe Scarborough.

Let's say the people who talked privately with Scarborough were centrist Democrats who don't want major reforms.

It's a victory for liberals that even those centrist Democrats realize that for this year's ticket to generate enthusiasm, it needs someone who wants major reforms: Elizabeth Warren.

In 1988, Michael Dukakis chose Lloyd Bentsen (who was more right-wing) to be his VP nominee.

I'm glad that the people talking privately to Scarborough aren't thinking of someone like Lloyd Bentsen for VP.

A successful ticket needs balance and geographical diversity. All those choices are old people. Kerry is 72, Biden is 73 and Warren is the kid in the pack at 66.

8. No, floating Warren as acceptable is really just pandering to Bernie's supporters.

And I am sure the Establishment would LOVE to have Warren as VP, and out of the Senate.
The only thing that would make me wonder about Warren is if she personally said she would be VP to Kerry or Biden. She does not control speculation that is really, IMO, just fishing to see if Bernie's supporters would support an Establishment politician.

Would not sway my vote from Bernie at all.

10. If Warren became part of an Establishment ticket, that would speak volumes about Warren,

and not in a good way. I would put her in the category of "you talk a good game" but are nothing more than a politician willing to sell out for your own ambitions.

11. That is why I do not believe Warren would do that.

This is all just speculation, anyway. I don't need to have an opinion on Warren regarding speculation, seems a waste of time. I do think the speculation is aimed at seeing if Bernie's supporters can be fooled into thinking that having Warren on an Establishment ticket would mean anything at all. No, it would not.

12. It would be IMMEDIATELY transparent to just about everyone what Biden's motivations were

when praising Bernie if he jumps in to run against him.

I mean, WHY would he need to beat Bernie if he LIKES Bernie's positions?

It would show that Biden was trying to get people to think Biden was a strong lefty (which is a joke) and not part of the Establishment (which he is) so that some of Bernie's support would potentially collapse. It would be such a clearly manipulative play that Biden would deserve ALL of the scorn and ridicule he would most assuredly get if he jumps in to this race. He would DESERVE it.
