2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumChris Hayes is talking about whether Elizabeth Warren should endorse during the Primary ...
The panel is saying she shouldn't, for various reasons.
If I were a Bernie supporter, I would hope that she wouldn't endorse anyone. If she endorses Bernie, it wouldn't help ... the vast majority of Bernie supporters were Warren supporters before Bernie tossed his hat in. But, if she endorsed HRC or Martin O'Malley, that would mean big trouble for Bernie.

(24,780 posts)She'd look pretty foolish and frivolous if she endorsed Sanders. She likely knows this.

(31,849 posts)Warren knows what many here can't seem to grasp ... a Democrat in the White house is more important than any republican in the White house. Period.

(2,227 posts)will be off the charts. He's only 4 points down nationally atm, wait till after NH, he will be up by at least 10 nationally. If I am wrong, I will gladly say so, but I don't think I am.

(31,849 posts)should she be the Democratic nominee?
Oh yeah ... even giving Bernie Iowa and N.H. (which I don't give him both, but, it is possible), Bernie is unlikely to go to +10 nationally.

(31,849 posts)should she become the Democratic nominee?
But that said ... Who are these "everyone" that told you that Bernie was unlikely to ever break 20%? That would have been; either, extremely partisan or extremely ill-informed, seeing as approximately 10% of the Democratic Party identifies as "Progressives" and another ~5% identifies as "Libertarian", both of which are drawn to Bernie (and/or O'Malley), and he splits those Democrats that self-identify as "liberal".
What continues to have me perplexed is Bernie's being the favored candidate among those Democrats that self-identify as "conservative". I have my thoughts on that; but, will refrain from expressing them, as there is no way (at this point in the contest) to test them.

(31,849 posts)which is the main point of my response? Or, whether Bernie cracks a +10 number, nationally?
Either way ... Yes, we will have to wait and see; but, I am quite confident in, both, of my predictions, unless something crazy, and completely unforeseen, happens.

(7,830 posts)You have to understand something about us (fervent) Warren supporters who now back Bernie because she chose not to run....we love her because of her true progressive stances in both rhetoric AND action. Should she back corporate, wall street, establishment conservative Hillary, it would mean she too is another fake liberal.
It wouldn't hurt Bernie, it would make us all more desperate for him to WIN.

(31,849 posts)But, as I said, I don't expect her to endorse anyone in the primary ... it makes no sense.

(8,760 posts)EW is under enormous pressure.
The DNC and Team Hillary came down hard on EW and Joe with their recent statements.
Don't be so hard on her. She IS on our side and it takes courage to defy the DNC and Team Hillary.

(25,699 posts)I actually sort of agree with 1StrongBlackMan, that Warren's going ot sit on her endorsement, at least until some primaries are won.
