Since the meme of the day is that Bernie hasn't been "vetted" yet, and the GOP will smear him (if Clinton is unsuccessful in her attempts), here's a little present to help make you lives easier. Something to give you a head start.
An article about his early life before Washington. "Bernie Sanders Has a Secret" The reporter attempts to dig up dirt on him.
Sanders lived hand-to-mouth and collected unemployment for a while. He was kind of quirky and a bit obsessive about politics. He was a "shitty carpenter." He was not very successful in business. His early campaigns were a disaster. He was more politically strident as a young socialist. He wrote some odd articles about sex and power.
HE WAS NOT MARRIED TO THE MOTHER OF HIS SON. (The same son who accompanies him on his campaign).
Wanna make a big deal out of any of it? Have fun.

(14,587 posts)I just can't see anyone who purposely disobeyed the written instructions on a bedding label in the White House...
I mean, what if he tears labels off furniture and stuff there?
Forget emails and pay-to-play allegations...this LABEL-GATE is the very end. It will destroy him as soon as Rove gets hold of it.
Yep, Bernie's done. Stick a fork in him.

(31,849 posts)though I doubt that will/would give republicans pause to air it out.
And when they do, Democrats will laugh; republicans will be outraged; and, independents will say, MEH.

(975 posts)You didn't leave Hillary's camp did you? You were pretty set on her getting the nod. Are you still supporting her (I'm sure you are)?

(31,849 posts)(unless, you consider my NOT being a Bernie supporter, makes my a HRC supporter)
In fact, I donated to Bernie's and O'Malley's campaigns; but, have not donated to HRC ... nor, do I plan to during the primaries.
But even though I don't support her, I can soberly read the polling data and read the moves of the republicans, and come up with the conclusion that the numbers say she is the likely candidate ... and the republicans think so, too.
Living in Arizona, I doubt my primary vote will count, as I suspect the primary contest will be all but over before our primaries. But that will not stop me from doing my current Voter registration stuff and stuffing envelopes for generic Democratic mailers and local candidates I will be able to support.

(31,849 posts)A couple of years ago, I did some consulting work for a Fire District down there. I was surrounded for 4 days by very active members of the republican party.
I couldn't wait to get back to my purplish Tucson!
Did they ever resolve the systemic non-counting of Reservation votes?

(31,849 posts)And I have a bunch of friends on the base in Sierra Vista. I'll probably be down that way in May. Maybe we can turn one or two up?
Really? I thought there was a big to do about an under-count of Native American votes in Cochise back in 2014. Perhaps, I'm mistaken.

(631 posts)interviews:
Sanders was not a politician, he said at the start, but he nonetheless possessed characteristics that would make him a successful one. He could be prickly and yet captivating. He had a way of being somehow simultaneously doom-and-gloom and inspirational. Even though he considered his personal life off limits, he still relentlessly solicited attention, sending to newspapers and radio and TV stations onslaughts of typewritten press releases that could read like screeds. And even though he had little appetite for chit-chat, he still loved to campaign, and he did it tirelessly traipsing around the state in his drab blue, Bondo-bound Volkswagen bug without working windshield wipers, showing up at newspaper offices and asking to be interviewed, visiting prisons and power plants, talking at schools and churches and inside peoples homes, and talking and talking and talking.

(631 posts)The rest of the article reads like the Sandburg's Lincoln: spartan home, avid reader, appeared to be without direction for much of his early life, unlikely hero, dedicated to the singular cause of humanitarian justice, a slow starter in politics, but once he started talking, he talked and talked and talked with an infectious mission.
I'm sure that sounds like propaganda to his detractors. It may be that the writer was also a Lincoln admirer and wrote about Bernie within that frame. Regardless, it appears to be true.

(14,587 posts)Stop the world! Bernie has (gasp) a child out of wedlock!!!!
And he wrote some strange stuff (gulp!)
And he (sharply indrawn breath and gnashed teeth) copulated with a woman to whom he was NOT MARRIED!!!
OMG!
I just don't know what he can possibly say to such allegations.

(14,177 posts)I triple dog dared Hillary supporters to keep going with that. They stopped. It was an issue for about 5 minutes here. I would triple dog dare Republicans to make political ads about it. Seriously I triple dog dare them. My parents were not married. My mother was born 7.5 months after her mom and dad got married. She was a big premie of course. Half my cousins were conceived and/or born out-of-wedlock. All of my children were born out-of-wedlock all three of them. I will never get married. I don't know how many families are like mine, but I suspect there are a whole lot of them and they will not take kindly to this attack on their parents, their children, or someone attacking them for having children outside marriage.
