Related: About this forumBernie MALICIOUSLY ATTACKS Planned Parenthood in E-Mail
We are not going to allow the extreme right-wing to defund Planned Parenthood, we are going to expand it. Planned Parenthood provides vital healthcare services for millions of people, who rely on its clinics every year for affordable, quality health care services including cancer prevention, STI and HIV testing and general primary health care services. The current attempt to malign Planned Parenthood is part of a long-term smear campaign by people who want to deny women in this country the right to control their own bodies.
We are not going back to the days when women did not have full access to birth control. Incredibly, almost all of the Republicans in Congress are in favor of giving any employer who provides health insurance, or any insurance company, the ability to deny coverage for contraception or any other kind of procedure if the employer had a moral objection to it. That is unacceptable.
Under my administration, we will protect and expand the fundamental rights of women to control their own bodies. I promise to only nominate Supreme Court Justices who support Roe v. Wade. Our Medicare-for-all plan would cover reproductive health care, including abortion, because all health care is a right, not a privilege. And I would work to repeal the federal Hyde Amendment, which currently restricts the federal government from spending any money on abortion care. That is wrong, and it will be abolished when I am president.
How could we let this man get away with this!?!?! How dare he?? Right Wing Ideologue!
Oh wait.. .This is what he has been saying for years. My fault.

(442 posts)They'll say, "he wants to do away with planned parenthood ave replace it with something else that isn't achievable." Just like they have with a multitude of other policy positions of senator sanders. Of course, this claim (as are all the others) will be complete bs!

(2,052 posts)My first discussion to reach the front page! I lurked for a long time and just recently started posting.
Quick history: In my 30s, about to get married. Democrat since I could vote. Worked HARD for Edwards. Gave up after he burned us all and betrayed Elizabeth while she suffered. Started out for Hillary. Knew Sanders as I am only a few states away. Realized I didn't really know him. Speaks to every issue important to me. I am white but loved his authenticity on race relations and believe his actions (protesting, etc) as a young man speak to the man he grew to be.
I'm proud to be in the community. My fiancé and I read here religiously and we work hard from our home making calls for Bernie.
And I am sorry about the headline. Went for shock value. Meant to surprise the opponent, not give our team a heart attack! Have a great night!!

(1,508 posts)some of the members higher up in Planned Parenthood are also a part of the establishment and go along to get along instead of backing the candidate that could in the end be more beneficial for them. In this case, I don't believe there is too much difference between what Hillary will do to try to help PP, and what Bernie will do. I do however believe that Bernie Sanders will get more down ticket candidates elected and IMHO is what will help Planned Parenthood in the end.

(55,981 posts)and women's health are myopic. As you said, Sen Sanders and H. Clinton both will most likely support PP if elected. However, what some don't see, Sen Sanders wants to help women (as well as men) in other ways that I don't believe Clinton does. Jobs, healthcare, secure retirement systems, jobs (I repeat intentionally), fairer drug laws, less deaths do to war, reestablish our Democracy. In other words while Clinton maybe honestly want to support womens healthcare, her main focus is helping those that are her financial supporters. Sanders in contrast not only wants to support womens health but support them in many other ways.
Also I am disgusted that the Clinton Campaign pressured the PP leadership into, in effect, spitting in the faces of two other strong Democratic candidates and their supporters. For the first time in history PP snubs Democratic candidates obviously without regard to the consequences for the women that rely on them.
monicaangela
(1,508 posts)her main focus is helping those that are her financial supports." I don't believe Clinton or any other politician can help anyone if their main focus is helping those that are their financial supporters. It is a proven fact that those that are trying to buy our political system and politicians are only interested in profit and not the health of any of the citizens of this nation, men or women if they don't get to make a profit from the "care." You are correct, Bernie Sanders has a different way of approaching the effort to help women, men, and all citizens of this nation, and my personal opinion is his approach is the best. I will be voting for him in the primary and if he wins I will be doing all I can to help him win the general.

(55,981 posts)health care are insincere if they support the corrupt culture that has been very damaging to women in all facets. And if they think that H. Clinton will be different from the rest of the 1%* just because she is a women, they are delusional.
*looks like the Clinton's wealth puts them in the top 0.1% richest in the US of A.
monicaangela
(1,508 posts)I hope PP realizes that if Clinton does win office and her backers decide she should promote policies that will limit the rights of women when it comes to reproduction, she will IMHO not hesitate to conveniently allow the republicans to have their way and will not veto legislation that is promoted by them. Hillary does go along with issues that have horrible consequences for the majority of us until she is called on it, and then conveniently flip flops after sticking her finger in the wind to make sure she is not challenged in a manner that would cause her to lose her power and influence. I see her as a very egocentric type person.
Dustlawyer
(10,497 posts)candidates are strong PP supporters. The leaders of PP decided to endorse the establishment candidate before the Primary's for their own perceived political benefit. I suspect a quid pro quo was made, just like the other politicians who endorsed Hillary early. They did it because big Donors told them to. This is the stark difference that makes me support Bernie all the more.
monicaangela
(1,508 posts)I know for a fact that the members of PP, those that keep it going were not consulted when this decision was made. I believe this as you say has to do with executives who are trying to preserve their connections to donations and lucrative deals that keep them earning those executive salaries. As a Bernie supporter, I believe as you do, none of those that are endorsing either Hillary or Bernie at this time should be doing so because as you have said, except for Wall Street and now ACA, most of their political views are similar even though Hillary and her menagerie continue to try to make it appear as though there is as much difference between her views and those of Bernie Sanders as there are between democrats and republicans.
