More motherly McMahon aims for GOP upset in Conn.

Monday, September 24, 2012

Wealthy former professional wrestling executive Linda McMahon is shifting her image from groin-kicking CEO to grandmother in her second bid for Senate in Connecticut. The makeover seems to be working against three-term Democratic Rep. Chris Murphy, putting McMahon suddenly in reach of an upset in the Democratic-leaning state.

"Voters like her more this time," said Doug Schwartz, director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, which on Aug. 28 showed McMahon narrowing her 20-percentage point loss among women two years ago to only a 4-point deficit among that group now.

But in a state where independents are the biggest voting bloc and registered Democrats outnumber Republicans 37 percent to 21 percent, Murphy is fighting back for the seat held by retiring independent Sen. Joe Lieberman.

"We've got to tell people who the real Linda McMahon is," Murphy said in a recent interview. "We've got to remind people of all the reasons they voted against her in 2010."

1. Being in an expensive non-swing state area (NY Metro) the only political ads we see are McMahon

Personally they would make me more likely to vote for her opponant but then I'm not the sort of person she's targeting. She's done with the warm fuzzy intro build 2 and is down in the dirt ripping her opponant to shreds.

But while Murphy will probably edge it out in the end, I'd rather not leave it so close.

I'd like to see Clinton, Biden, Obama & some other Democratic folks spend some time helping him out.

It could ruin the chances of keeping the Senate.

It would be ironic if we were to win in MA, VA, NM, WI, OH and other tougher states and then lose here.

Also, in this clip, you have the option of "Bobo" Brazil, "The Sheik", or Bobby Heenan.

There's always "The Sheik's" eye gouging as an alternative.

That's how Linda McMahon will spend eternity in Hell.

I think the Dems should have gone with the Attorney General, Susan B., instead. She has greater name recognition across the state.

Still, there's nothing that can be done about that now. We have to work with what we have.

She used some really ugly attack ads against Chris Murphy. She didn't match up in polling as well against Linda McMahon either. I think she would be behind Linda McMahon at this point, honestly. She tried to run for AG here in CT but she had not been in a law practice for 10 consecutive years which is the law here. She wanted her SOS experience to count.
Linda McMahon has tons and tons of money but I think her ads have some effect of over saturation. She even has ads on youtube. Lots of people mention they are pretty sick of her ads.

11. You don't want Linda to get in there. If Linda's in then so is Vince

Vince & Linda are a team. And have been since day one.
Both of them built the WWF into what it is today.
Vince on some parts more prominent, Linda on some parts more behind-the-scenes.

The reason why there's a PG Era in the (now-named) WWE right now is because of the Chris Benoit tragedy for one & also because they're trying to clean up the league's image so Linda can get inside politics.
That's why son Shane left all of sudden in 2009 while his sister Stephanie stayed behind.

That family works in tandem. They are never truly separate.
So Linda getting in is as good as Vince getting in & you don't want Vince McMahon to start influencing politics.
He needs to stay right there in the wrestling world where he belongs.

As a wrestling fan, I can watch the McMahons all day long.
As an American citizen, I would vote against ANY attempt those McMahons would make to enter public office.
If I lived in Connecticut right now, my vote would be against Linda.
