2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumTo anyone concerned about tonight: If Bernie can't handle a townhall, he can't handle the presidency
The conspiracy theories regarding tonight's town hall make Bernie look weak, not strong.
There's no question that both President Obama and Clinton could walk into the most hostile room in America and still come out on top. On multiple occasions, President Obama has debated a room full of republicans, delivering multiple smackdowns in the process. And we all know that Clinton was grilled for over 11 hours by rethugs.
If the concern is that Bernie can't even win over a room of potentially hostile liberals, then how would he handle being President?

read it and process.....not about Bernie not being able to handle it. It's the voters who cannot, will not understand that she has the ability along with the media and DNC to plant questions. For her past cheating, she should be BANNED from these types of forums.
Just my op. I don't like liars, so that's why I'm voting for Bernie.

Not to mention the article in latest where one of her past plants confesses to being told what question to ask and Hillary just happened to pick her out of the crowd to ask a question. There is nol ow bar for the Clinton's and the world knows it.

He even picked up some support.
Anyone who is wishing & hoping that Bernie can't handle a Town Hall meeting is out there with the Rainbows and Unicorns.

Lets see Hillary go to Liberty University and give one of her Wall Street Speeches.
How do you believe THAT would end?

(29,798 posts)An Evangelical pastoral counselor and Liberty University graduate posted a short sermon about Bernie Sanders' speech at Liberty University to reddit yesterday:
Bernie is the voice of Justice crying out in the desert. Evangelicals like me are convicted by his message. (audio, a little under 17 minutes)
https://clyp.it/eusxalwe
https://www.reddit.com/r/SandersForPresident/comments/3kx57b/im_an_alumni_of_liberty_u_bernie_is_the_voice_of/
He was convicting the Christian leaders and the religious leaders in that university, and calling us out for being complicit in the abandonment of those who suffer, the least of these, and siding with the powerful and rich, the masters of this world. And he was convicting us and calling us out, and we scorned him, and we stared him down; and, with sour faces, we thought, "Who is this wacko, and why do all these people seem to follow him, seem to like him this wild-haired Jew, crying out from the wilderness of the political left, in his hoarse voice?"
When I heard Bernie speaking in that way, when I saw that guy on stage at Liberty University, I saw John the Baptist...crying out to the religious leaders, the Pharisees of his day, calling them corrupt and complicit with those who have all the power and all the money and all the wealth, and abandoning the people that God loves, that God cares about...
As I heard Bernie Sanders crying out to the religious leaders at Liberty University, in his hoarse voice, with his wild hair this Jew and he proclaimed justice over us, he called us to account, for being complicit with those who are wealthy and those who are powerful, and for abandoning the poor, the least of these, who Jesus said he had come to bring good news to. And in that moment something occurred to me. As I saw Bernie Sanders up there, as I watched him, I realized Bernie Sanders for president is good news for the poor. Bernie Sanders for president is Good News for the poor. Bernie Sanders is gospel for the poor. And Jesus said "I have come to bring gospel" good news "to the poor."
And lightning hit my heart at that moment. And I realized that we are evangelical Christians. We believe the Bible. We believe in Jesus. We absolutely shun those who would attempt to find nuance and twisted and tortured interpretations of scripture that they would use to master all other broader interpretations, to find some kind of big message that they want to flout. We absolutely scorn such things, and yet somehow we commit to the mental gymnastics necessary that allows us to abandon the least of these, to abandon the poor, to abandon the immigrants, to abandon those who are in prison.
I listened to Bernie Sanders as he said he wanted to welcome the immigrants and give them dignity...

(3,900 posts)claiming it's all unfair to Sanders. I'm not sure what the problem is. He's a grown-ass man, a longtime politician, a smart person and a gifted speaker. He'll do fine, notwithstanding some of his supporters concerns about his ability to function in an environment they feel is tailor-made for him.

The notion that DWS and Clinton and others in the Clinton Camp may have discussed schedule strategies would be a rational estimation .... There is much intercommunication between DWS and HRC ... To insist it can 'only be conspiracy theory' in an attempt to malign Bernie supporters as 'conspiracy theorists' .... Well, that's just a bit much, don't you think ? ...

(13,877 posts)The problem was that the woman that was or is moderating it...I've read both...has Hillary2016 on her license plate. Also, the Town Meeting was rushed in as soon as Sanders got ahead a point or two in Iowa. Just more HRC shenanigans. We're used to them.

(4,458 posts)there is a Huge chance it will Backfire on HRC...as it allllways does.
It is unfortunate that her camp cannot calmly and with credible information debate the issues and explain what is wrong with Bernies plans...details....and give us credible details why her platform is better. That. I think we could All respect.
What HRC's camp is doing now is assuring she will not get either my or my husbands votes. I haven't discussed this matter, yet, with the other 15 of us to know if this is a "supporting deal breaker" or not. I suspect it is.
Fwiw-I was/"we" were totally ALL In with HRC in 2007/08. I fought Hard against Obama in the primary.
