2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe DNC with the Third Way remind me of the Borg from Star Trek.
They assimilate people into accepting what they used to oppose and oppose what they used to stand for. Their behavior and messages in this primary drives it home to me and I know I'm not alone.

(45,851 posts)There are probably twenty or more OP's every day in GD-P that basically try to make that point.

(2,872 posts)It's just incredibly easy for me to burn myself out on "he's too impossible", "too idealist", "pie in the sky" when watching my parents vote for status-quo BOHICA candidates seemed to kill 'em on a conscientious level. To top that off, I put in a lot of work campaigning for Obama as a late teen with the intention of voting for him the November after I turned 18. I know what a status-quo candidate who's just really good at saying things he can't deliver on feels like. I'd rather someone say it's gonna be difficult, and it's gonna take every single one of us; rather than someone who's status-quo, bend and spread 'em for the corporate overlords.

I'll go with the borg.
