Jennifer Granholm: Americans would rather elect an atheist than a socialist

Jennifer Granholm says Americans would rather elect an atheist than a socialist
By C. Eugene Emery Jr. on Friday, January 29th, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.

<...>

"Now, I love Bernie Sanders, really, I appreciate the fact that he's bringing out young people. But when you look at that word ‘socialist,’ the Gallup poll did an analysis of what are the characteristics that people would vote for in a president. 'Would you vote for a Mormon?' 'Would you vote for a Jew?' 'Would you vote for a Catholic?' When they get to the question on would you vote for an atheist, it is -- or, excuse me, a socialist, it is even less popular than voting for atheists," Granholm said. "That is why it's an issue."

<...>

Our ruling

Granholm said a Gallup survey found that the idea of voting for a socialist for president is even less popular than voting for an atheist.

That's precisely what was found in the poll, the first time Gallup has asked about socialist presidential candidates. We rate the claim as True.

is both a self-declared socialist and all but an atheist. I know, I know, he says he believes in God but for him that just means that "everything is connected."

to be so obvious. She loves Bernie . . . but

Anyhow - the poll Politifact refers to actually had the staggering difference of 47% Yes Socialist to wait for it . . . 50% No Socialist - and was taken in June of 2015.

You have to dig deep and click on lots of links to that Gallup poll to see the demographics of the people they polled . . . and I still couldn't find any info on age range of people polled. However, I did find this statement:

Americans between the ages of 18 and 29 are much more likely than those 65 and older to support these four types of candidates

So what does this all mean?

It means Granholm is shilling for her candidate! Big whoop.
