Related: About this forumBernie Bro goes berserk at Iowa Caucus.
Apparently there was some confusion because more people showed up than expected.
Fortunately there was a Bernie Bro there to come to the rescue.
Some great quotes in here...
"If I'm wrong, let god strike me down"
"I know I'm not acting entirely appropriately"
If a Hillary supporter acted like this, you know there would be people all over the internet (and FOX) accusing her minions of intimidating election officials. But in the end, it's just entertainment. And a testament to how absurd the caucus system is to begin with.

(24,411 posts)He stood around, for some unknown reason--failing to do a first count.
People stood around waiting for 45 minutes to an hour. He would not call a vote.
He was a Hillary supporter.
This particular precinct had 85 percent Bernie supporters. I think someone was pissed that the room did not look they way they had anticipated.
And there were other people yelling at this guy. Did you hear the woman screaming that she was pregnant and had to pee and that they'd been sitting there for 45 minutes, doing nothing?
Jesus! So much contempt for the Sanders supporter who was trying to do the right thing. Nothing for this dipshit who was standing around doing NOTHING and stalling the first vote.
This Bernie supporter was a hero! The pregnant woman ended up taking over the entire caucus and leading everyone to a vote. That's the only reason that this caucus was counted!
Know your facts before you post!

(19,326 posts)Oh boy! Talk about desperate deceptive poo-slinging. This takes the cake,
complete with a "BernieBro" slur.
CoffeeCat
(24,411 posts)This guys intent was to stall the 85% Bernie precinct so that it showed up late in the polling. Whether or not anyone will admit it, people were watching the polls on their cell phones and if a landslide was perceived to be had by Hillary, they might have changed their decision.
Conversely, had a shit ton of early reports hit the wires showing a landslide for Bernie, that may have had an effect on fence sitters....remember, we're only talking about .029% margin of victory here....every little bit counts.
Folks not understanding why the the guy in the hat not stating his name on camera is important...well, we can't educate everyone, some people need to be responsible for their cognizant thoughts and decisions. The fact that the Hat Guy was secretive with his name and no one from that entire caucus seemed to know "Their Neighbor" (an old guy running around town in a Vietnam vet cap and using a cane would be pretty noticeable to 'someone' yet no one seemed to know him and by all accounts on the innerwebs, no one seems to be able to identify him)
All this adds up to to shenanigans.
And the tactic of crying over the "BernieBro" this is a classic school yard practice, you keep doing something to another, then when that other reacts to the action, you cry foul....(sarc) But hey, no one would ever notice this practice would they?? (/sarc)

(7,318 posts)Those kind of tactics can go hand in hand with doing recount after recount until the opponent's supporters are whittled down to a winning number. Often caucus attendees don't know that they shouldn't leave before delegates are apportioned, or these shenanigans may occur.
The pregnant woman did exactly the right thing. The attendees themselves can just decide to start the voting by a show of hands.
The caucus process is simply undemocratic and not deserving of use in it's current form by our Party.

The two dumbfucks at the podium violated the caucus rules. They were standing around, inexplicably--doing nothing. Our caucus began counting after 2 minutes of everyone entering the room.
The guy who recorded the conversation, was undoubtedly running on adrenaline and afraid their caucus votes wouldn't count.
A pregnant woman had to step in and take over the caucus.
This was a fiasco--caused by those two men. No one seems to know who in the hell they are! The video and their pictures are being passed around on Facebook. This caucus was in Ames and no one in the caucus knows who these guys were!
Maybe they'll find out. They deserve to be publicly ridiculed.
Major props to video guy and to pregnant Superwoman for saving the day and getting it done! 85 percent of the room went to Bernie!

This guy in the hat is not a victim. He was standing around doing nothing. They tried to help. They tried to ask questions. They offered suggestions.
All the guy had to do was call a vote. We're not trying to crack cold fusion, here!
Didn't you hear him tell the guy standing next to him that their caucus had 4 delegates? The guy corrected him and said, "5."
This guy was completely incompetent and his actions violated the caucus rules. He should have asked for help from supporters in the room who were willing. Standing around for 45 minutes and not even doing a first count--is CRAZY.

(24,411 posts)The entire room stood around for a long time while these jackasses did nothing.
I think 45 minutes is enough time for an entire caucus to stand around doing nothing!
By the time the Bernie supporter had turned on his phone to record--everyone had been standing around waiting for the first vote for 45 minutes.
I was a precinct captain about 30 minutes from here. If someone had tried this in my caucus, I would recorded it as well. I probably would have called the police. This was over-the-top violation of Iowa Caucus rules and procedures by the Clinton supporters.
If this guy hadn't recorded or expressed outrage, this precinct may have never been counted. The room was 85 percent for Bernie.
He raised holy hell, and the pregnant woman screaming in the background took over the entire procedure and did the count herself.
Being a sheep, and allowing these fucksticks to stand around and do nothing--would have been cowardly. This guy, and the pregnant woman, got it done!

(12,685 posts)about the number of delegates etc. It makes no sense that anyone would argue in this manner for 45 minutes.
Has anyone actually identified the guy with the Bernie shirt?
You responded to me in another thread that was locked. It was regarding my post where I noted the number of non-AA members that participated in a poll in the AA forum on who they are supporting for president.
Now, beyond your statement that I've been on an anti-Bernie tear "for months" which is absolutely precious considering a) I have never had any issue with Bernie Sanders but have been beyond fed up with the behavior of far too many of his unhinged supporters and b) you've only been on DU for a hot minute, I thought I'd address you here.
My A and B are relevant but still don't really have anything to do with the fact that:
1) Bravenak's poll says clear as day that she wanted regular posters "not randos." It's there in black and white IN the OP
2) My comment clarifying that all posters of color on DU were welcome to participate was posted literally 8 minutes after the poll was posted and when only 3-4 people had voted after completely overlooking the bolded statement in the OP that it was for regular posters in the forum.
3) As I CLEARLY stated in the post that you decided to respond to, there were several posters that voted in the poll MONTHS after the poll had been posted. There is no way that they could not have seen that the poll was for posters of color and regulars to the AA forum. As a host and regular participant in the AA forum as well as the person who asked bravenak to post the poll, it may shock you to realize that I am fully aware of what's going in that thread (as well as most others in that forum) but I am.
If you want to run around DU absolving your side of all responsibility for what is going on around here and pretend that everyone that objects to what's going on here is "calling Sanders a racist" that is clearly your ridiculous right to do so. But please don't pretend that anything I stated in that post in that other thread was untrue or unfair.
Kentonio
(4,377 posts)It's not that you've been anti-Bernie, rather that you've been very vocally opposed to his supporters. Some have deserved it, but you cast that net very widely. You've assumed people were being tone deaf when they've done nothing more than try and engage in conversations. Again I can understand it because of some of the really heavy handed crap we heard from some Bernie people at times, but you've still over-reacted on numerous occasions.
As to your points..
1) Regular posters could mean regular DU posters not regular AA posters. This is particularly true for the people who didnt even realize it was an AA thread.
2) First rule of internet club, most people don't read all the replies before responding. Hell, a large number of people don't even read the whole op.
3) As something I saw recently said: "When you're twenty you care what people think about you, when you're forty you stop caring, and when you're sixty you realize they were never thinking about you in the first place". Or to put it another way, I think you're reading an awful lot into people voting in a meaningless internet forum poll.
I don't feel the slightest need to absolve anyone of responsibility for their actions. Some people are good, some are bad, some are stupid and some are just thoughtless but their responsibility is their own. All I'd ask you to do is take a deep breath a bit more often and just try and be sure that people are actually being offensive before you jump in. Painting half the Democratic party as insensitive to AA issues is a bit of a stretch after all.
Number23
(24,544 posts)that it was MY post about a poll in the AA forum that you felt so compelled to come and "correct" and chastise. But looking at your own level of "engagement" with several other AA posters in this forum in the extremely short time that you've been here, it's not at all surprising.
I clearly stated that some of those votes came from people who are openly hostile to black posters here and they came months after the poll was posted. If you choose to ignore that, I genuinely couldn't care less. But your decision to dismiss the multiple comments in that thread from posters who are regulars in the AA forum and who are saying the same thing is telling.
I am fully capable of assessing whether I find someone or something "offensive" or not, which is clearly the entire basis for your objection to my post. It is beyond apparent that your primary issue with my post and with ME and others here is that you feel that we are being harsh with Sanders supporters. To be blunt, you need to get over it. I don't need your permission to post anything here and your asking for me to "take a deep breath" before posting what I genuinely feel is going on is as patronizing as it is needless and idiotic. I have absolutely no idea who you think you are. And when I see you racing into threads to "ask" that the folks accusing minority posters of having "Stockholm Syndrome" and other really blatant and offensive garbage that gets regularly posted here, that they should be the ones to "take a deep breath" then maybe I'll consider giving your opinion the time of day.
Kentonio
(4,377 posts)My own level of "engagement" eh? I'd say how fucking dare you, but frankly I have no more time to waste on you. Go sling your insinuations at someone else. As for who I think I am, I'm someone that respects an intelligent argument, who will happily admit when I'm wrong and who is always looking to learn something new. As for who you are, I think I've just seen exactly who you are, and it's no-one I have the slightest interest in communicating with any further.
Number23
(24,544 posts)So the idea that you can "admit that you're wrong" doesn't seem in any way bolstered by your behavior. And over something so really insignificant as a poll when there were a hundred other far more blatant postings just this week you could have rushed in to play grand savior over.
If you think that no one has noticed who you choose to "chastise" and "correct" around here, you are as wrong about that as you are apparently a slew of other things.
And to that I say, thank the Gods.
Kentonio
(4,377 posts)Implying that they were things I said. Exactly the kind of integrity I now know to expect from you.
Oh and for your information, no I don't waste my time engaging with people who have demonstrated themselves to be completely tone deaf on racial issues because it's a waste of damn time. I made the clearly stupid mistake of thinking you were someone with the depth to have an actual discussion with. You falling back on a version of 'well you didn't call them out, so you're clearly bigoted' just shows me quite how wrong I was.
Number23
(24,544 posts)Despite your seemingly unending efforts.
And when I see a web site that at times is awash in racist and offensive language, and folks decide often and repeatedly to try to call out, to "chastise" and "correct" (see how those quotes work?) the handful of minority posters that still post here and who are calling out the racist language and/or behavior, then yeah I take notice.
And if you consider a black woman who has lived in multiple English and non-English speaking countries "tone deaf" on racial issues, then you are absolutely right when you say that we have absolutely nothing in common and nothing to talk about. And I SINCERELY hope that you remember that the next time you feel the need to "chastise" or "correct" me for daring to speak up on how I see things around here.
Why don't we put that not communicating thing you keep talking about into practice? Does right now work for you too??
Kentonio
(4,377 posts)I wasn't calling you tone deaf, I was talking about the people on the Sanders side who posted seriously patronizing and offensive comments telling AA voters how they should think. If we're going to fall out then fair enough, but let's at least do it without any major misunderstandings.
Number23
(24,544 posts)And it's not a misunderstanding either.
I wasn't calling you tone deaf, I was talking about the people on the Sanders side who posted seriously patronizing and offensive comments telling AA voters how they should think.
Yeah, okay. That TOTALLY explains your need to chase after the people calling out the disgusting behavior instead of the ones doing it.
I'm done here. And considering the number of times you keep saying you have no interest in communicating with me, I sincerely hope you are too.
