Michele Bachmann's Chicago Synagogue Visit Drives Attendees To Leave, Donate To Her Opponent

Some reportedly walked out of the ceremony, while Gary Sircus, a 25-year member of Anshe Emet Synagogue, voiced more active opposition to Bachmann's attendance.

"The holiness of the room and the holiness of the evening was greatly diminished for me, if not completely destroyed," said Sircus, according to the Tribune. "Our congregation values and embodies tolerance, compassion, respect for individual rights, intelligence, science -- all of the things that I think Michele Bachmann stands against."

58. Apparently, that synagogue is "Conservative", ... not "Orthodox":
Tue Oct 2, 2012, 09:17 AM
Oct 2012

For the "Conservative" movement, women have equal rights, privileges and responsibilities. There are women rabbis and women cantors.

Men are required to cover their head. Women also cover their head, wear a yarmulke (kippah) and prayer shawl (tallis) with four fringes, but unlike men , they are not required to do so, to attend the service. If women are called to the torah to give the blessing for the reading, or for any other reason they go up on the bimah (the raised portion at the front of the sanctuary), .. then they are required to cover their head.

Such that Michelle Bachman could reasonably wear a yarmulke.

"Conservative" is substantially like "Orthodox", except women have equal privileges.

At least that is the way it is in California.

No word on why Bachmann was in Chicago or why she chose to attend the Jewish service. Calls and emails to her campaign and congressional office were not returned.

Please include Norm Coleman to the list. While at it please include some other right wing Jews like Pearle ,Wolfowitz ,Kristol and Krauthammer. All neocon talking heads and all for war and colonization of places where populations are easily manipulated .Bachman would be most welcome at their house of worship. I read an article a few years back about a Minnesota Rabbi holding a fund raiser for Bachman. So does have her very Zionist ,Militaristic friends. I bet Bibi would her.

"Michele Bachmann's Chicago Synagogue Visit..."

While I have NO DOUBT First Lady Michelle Obama would be graciously and warmly welcomed AT ANY Synagogue in the United States, I sincerely doubt Mrs. Obama would just show up for Yom Kippur services, to try and score electoral points. It's gauche and patronizing and certainly not Mrs. Obama's style.

Michele Bachman, however, is as gauche and patronizing as she is bat-shit crazy.

Friday, she'll hold a rally and fundraiser at a Starbuck's in Soho.
