2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHypothetically speaking just to clear a few things up in my own mind. IF say the powers
That be,used super delegates and shady vote counting arrangements to guarantee their favored candidate the nomination.
And the independents and some liberal democrats were offended or insulted enough to stay home in the general election.
And that lack of support plus the hate motivating the right to get out the vote against the Democratic candidate resulted in The Donald winning the presidency.
Whose fault would that BE?
I say the fault lies with the powers that be and their preferred candidate.
[/b]What do you think and WHY?

He will also without a doubt emphasize the continued importance of every vote, and activism in turning over congress to the maximum extent.

As to your other concern, Liberal Democrats do not sit home and enable the likes of Donald Cruz Rubio take the presidency.

(44,131 posts)Dems reliably come out to vote in Presidential elections. Most of our losses come in midterms because for some reason we don't take midterms as seriously as R's do.

(443 posts)just how much trouble could the Donald cause? He would have to buckle down and work--or hire a bunch of eager beavers. It would be like Reagan, all over again.
Now Reagan had a whole team of handlers before he even started running, and the BFEE took over through Poppy Bush when he entered the White House. Does the Donald have any such superstructure? I don't think so. So he'd be that much further behind from Day 1.
I don't know if his finances are sufficiently deranged so that the BFEE could fasten onto him, and pull his Presidential strings. I don't know much about Trump at all, none of us do.
It might be worth a look-see. Maybe the alternative would scare a few unicorn-believers straight.
I truly do not know why Trump wants to be President. I'm not sure he does, either, other than the glitz and glam and perceived power. He's a shallow man, with shallow goals.
And if Trump truly had Palin running as his VP, there aren't enough idiots in the nation to vote for them.
No, I suspect Trump will bow out, suitably compensated, and Rubio, the puppet of choice, ushered into the nomination. The PTB still have the $$$ and the pull in the GOP.
And Sarah will have to go back to the tundra, where she belongs.

(4,797 posts)Trump could do a shit load of damage if the Repubs maintain control of both houses.
In any case, Rubio is more likely to get the nomination in my opinion. Not that he's any better than Trump.

I'm just hoping that past performance is a good indicator of future results, when it comes to reruns.
