Lies about the Embassy Attack? Pure Hogwash by Neo-cons!!!

Right after the attacks there was information to lead the admn. to believe that the attack began spontaneously following protests earlier that day at our embassy in Cairo. The admin says they provided that initial assessment to executive branch officials and members of Congress, who used that information to discuss the attack publicly and provide updates as they became available. Throughout the investigation the admin. continued to emphasize that information gathered was preliminary and evolving. As they learned more about the attack, they revised the initial assessment to reflect new information indicating that it was a deliberate and organized terrorist attack carried out by extremists. (this is a pharaphrased statement by the administration)

Lies? It sure doesn't seem like it based on the timeline and statements made.

September 12 -- President Barack Obama: "We are working to determine the precise motivations and methods of those who carried out this assault. Some have sought to justify this vicious behavior, along with the protest that took place at our embassy in Cairo yesterday, as a response to inflammatory material posted on the Internet. America's commitment to religious tolerance goes back to the very beginning of our nation. But let me be clear -- there is no justification for this, none."

September 12--September 12 -- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton:

"We are working to determine the precise motivations and methods of those who carried out this assault.

September 12 -- White House spokesman Jay Carney, in response to questions about whether the attack was planned:

September 13 -- Jay Carney:"It's too early for us to make that judgment. I think -- I know that this is being investigated, and we're working with the Libyan government to investigate the incident. So I would not want to speculate on that at this time."]

Many people there have easy access to heavy weaponry since they are not secured after the uprising and a regular person can instantaneously turn from postesor to launching an RPG!

Also, these are some things I've read in USA today, other news papers and seen online that make me say it was beyond our control to a large extent (the attack). Maybe in hindsight we should have withdrawn our personne but at the same time, maybe those who were there wanted to stay and perhaps we didn't have enough info to think there would be direct attacks on the embassy.

The Libyan government reminded us that it was a military assault, and that antagonistic militia and Al Qaeda affiliates might be better armed than the Libyan military, and that the entire official Libyan Army consists of only about 6,000 men. The rest of the armed forces in Libya are militia with conflicting local allegiances that might at any time over ride the allegiance to the (more or less official) Libyan government, which acknowledges itself as provisional and subject to quick change after elections.

The Libyan government suggested that if we wanted the site to be secure, it would be up to the US military. But they also warned us that it might make for a public relations problem, for reasons with which the US government agreed.

Because mortars and heavy weapons were used in the attack, and because we could not rely on local authorities, we would have to:

(1)Use a disproportionately large number of troops
(2)Use armour and heavy weapons
(3)Seize a large territory of currently populated area

Violence Takes Root In Post-Gadhafi Security Vacuum

Published: September 17, 2012

by Leila Fadel

The deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other American personnel has highlighted the serious post-Moammar Gadhafi security vacuum in the country.
The problem is much bigger than a few rogue militants: Eastern Libya is awash with heavy weaponry; security forces are weak; assassinations are plaguing Benghazi; and the people with the biggest guns rule.

Raouf Mohammed knows all of this from personal experience, and he wears a silver ring as a reminder: It belonged to his father, Mohammed Hadiya, who was wearing it the day he was shot down outside a mosque.

I think the protests and attack are 2 totally separate issues. But the protests helped cover the attack, made it easier to not be noticed. The investigation ongoing will shake out the details.

In countries like Libya they have a new Gov. just like Egypt has a new Gov. Every country that has Embassies is expected to protect them from attack, defend them if they are under attack.

I think the new Libyan Gov. was slow in their reaction to violence but quickly arrested several people and is working on the investigation. They are working with Americans. That's good enough at this point and it's wrong of Republicans to make another political issue. Let Libyas new Gov. and America work out this issue.

Protests are allowed in Democracies, terrorist attacks are not allowed.

What I would like investigated is who the heck a week before 9-11, a week before! sub-titled and sent that youtube to the internet Imam? That Imam was the first, the one person who called for protests at American Embassies.

Common sense tells us that 9-11 will be a problem date for years to come..that's just a given.

Gov. to Gov America and the Host countries can deal with our Embassies and their protection policies.

We need to find out and expose who sub-titled that silly youtube and sent it to the Imam...that is some dangerous American or even a political party leadership group who don't have Americas best interests at heart.

Americans have a right to free speech..nothing gives republicans? the moral right to take others free speech and use it to promote violence and hate in other countries. Make Political hay out of free speech? What will they do next..send vids of the koran burners next bonfire?
