Former N.H. Gov. Sununu: Poll showing Romney losing in my state is ‘a piece of garbage’

Former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu on Tuesday blasted a poll that showed GOP hopeful Mitt Romney behind in New Hampshire by 15 points as a “piece of garbage.”

During an interview on MSNBC, host Chuck Todd pointed out that the WMUR Granite State Poll (PDF), conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center, had Romney losing to President Barack Obama, 54 percent to 39 percent.

“You know it’s a piece of garbage,” Sununu replied.

“This is a good pollster,” Todd noted. “You can argue that it’s not 15.”

“I believe it’s head to head in New Hampshire,” Sununu insisted. “And I’ve seen enough other polls to tell you that is a piece of garbage.”

Not to mention that while NH does have a more libertarian independent streak then the rest of New England at the end of the day it is still a state in the upper northeast that is socially more progressive compared to some blue states in the midwest. Sununu should know this state well, he was Governor. In all the times I have been there it has never struck me as crazy right winger central. He knows this but he is a liar blowhard. NH is slipping away. And Hassan is making the Governors race very competitive.

My memory is too faulty to recall definitively, but I believe this poll has trended Republican over the years. WMUR is owned by Hearst Corp., which isn't exactly liberal in its leanings.
