(972 posts)But Clinton offered a message that the collected plutocrats found reassuring, according to accounts offered by several attendees, declaring that the banker-bashing so popular within both political parties was unproductive and indeed foolish. Striking a soothing note on the global financial crisis, she told the audience, in effect: We all got into this mess together, and were all going to have to work together to get out of it. What the bankers heard her to say was just what they would hope for from a prospective presidential candidate: Beating up the finance industry isnt going to improve the economyit needs to stop. And indeed Goldmans Tim ONeill, who heads the banks asset management business, introduced Clinton by saying how courageous she was for speaking at the bank. (Brave, perhaps, but also well-compensated: Clintons minimum fee for paid remarks is $200,000).

(6,282 posts)He should have stayed in NY? Wall Street corruption wasn't as big of a problem in the 70s when he went to Vermont. Besides, Clinton is a much bigger carpetbagger than Sanders ever could be accused of.
Run in 2008 on the same platform if his message has been so unwavering? Surely you jest -- that is the most ridiculous "negative' on a candidate ever.
Not a "complex" (i.e. triangulating) woman? Well, ya got me there.

(3,919 posts)it reminded me of the pressure & responsibility people from impoverished neighborhoods have a to return and "give back" after their education or successful careers. very weak reasoning on her part along with some "projection"?
the same platform and being consistent in fighting social and economic injustice and being a dove are take aways? if so, i now understand why she supports a waffling candidate.
her reason to back hillary solely because she is a woman - offended me, personally. i kept watching amy's expression - for any hint to what she was thinking but there was no tell, specifically. if i were amy and supporting hillary (perhaps?) i would be worried having her on may backfire on hillary.
she was all over the place and i did not want to comment earlier because when she put forth her "complex" descriptor - there was a hint i picked up and did not want to be offensive.

(10,751 posts)...is that she is very, very good at maintaining that journalistic poker face. I consider that a great asset, and it is rare among today's journalists. She will question anyone sharply but will not betray partisanship.
With all of that said, I would be very surprised if she supports Hillary Clinton rather than Bernie Sanders for President. I could of course be wrong -- but Amy's politics are very much to the left, and always have been.

When someone puts something on facebook or twitter about Bernie, it spreads like wildfire. I've never seen anything like it.

(3,623 posts)No, they don't. Just because 99% of the political system is corrupt as hell does not mean that we have to just roll over and accept it.

(11,990 posts)She says,
IOW, you guys who want to see them, you go do the work, don't ask Hillary to do the work for you.
Except that according to reports posted here, Hillary's contract specified that there would be only one transcript produced, and no one could have it except her. So where else are people supposed to find these transcripts, except to ask her for them?
