http://www.buzzfeed.com/evanmcsan/sanders-slams-the-bernie-bros#.ofNNNwmbZMANCHESTER, New Hampshire Bernie Sanders is not happy with the Bernie Bro phenomenon, he said Sunday.
Its disgusting, we dont want that crap, Sanders said during an appearance on CNNs State Of The Union recorded three days before Tuesdays first-in-the-nation primary here.

(55,894 posts)But the problem isn't just the obnoxious, hateful supporters known as Berniebros it's obvious something is wrong within his campaign too where his staff steals data, logos to fake endorsements, id's to fake union support, personal images to drum up veteran support.

I don't think your post should have been hidden, because it's par for the course in GD: P - but it was full of deliberate untruths.

(20,453 posts)That's why there are rules. They apply to everyone, so quit crying and insisting everyone here in GD-P is a perfect example.
I've offered responses to some of your whoppers, and low and behold, you never answered them. This isn't anger management, it's a primary.

Angry supporters go around taking their anger out on anyone who doesn't agree with them by bullying and harassment.

Bjorn Against
(12,041 posts)That certainly does not come off as very positive to me, nor does it come off as factual. Damn near every post I read of yours is negative, you have no business accusing Bernie supporters of being angry people while you post nasty crap constantly.

LOL!
I'm not angry. I'm amused at the irony of DU'ers who called a lot of us "cult followers" over the last 7 years.

(62,276 posts)It's not his to control, the movement is bottom up, it requires self-policing. But it must've got bad if it made its way to him to the point where he had to say something (clearly his response was to acknowledge it rather than dismiss it and say it didn't exist; so he has had to have been notified that it could come up).

Whenever I pointed this crap out (BLM, John Lewis, Sybrina Fulton, etc) I got trashed. First hide in a year for defending Planned Parenthood over that non-sense (and I said nothing hateful in it at all). What can you do.

(8,745 posts)It reminds me of 2004, when strong Dean supporters scared off people receptive to his candidacy with bullying tactics in the social media world. The campaign was unsure what to do because they wanted to encourage passionate support, but many took it way too far. I'd hate to see something similar happen to Sanders.
joshcryer
(62,276 posts)Friendster was the largest platform (which is where Dean made inroads). So it wasn't that bad at all. I've woken up every day face palming at some of the crap the Reddit Sanders group says or does. I've gotten to a point where if I read any article on Sanders on news sites I skip the comments because someone somewhere is going to say something stupid. Oh, and don't get me started on all the endorsements which we should just congratulate and move on rather than do a pile on on the endorser.
Blue_Adept
(6,400 posts)And comment sections. Particularly as at the time a lot of news orgs just let them be unmoderated for the most part. More people were starting to look online for news, particularly in election coverage, so it was definitely one of those early phases of what we're seeing now.
DrFunkenstein
(8,745 posts)Obviously, social media has evolved massively since 2003-2004, but there are lessons to be learned.
News organizations are looking for clicks, and leaving the comment sections open is a great way to drive repeat traffic.

(43,869 posts)I watched it happen at Dem party event in Georgia. Some people were a little apprehensive in leaving the building because of how aggressive (bullies) the Dean people were. This is why I have no patience for these Sanders followers.
