It is perceived by many that President Obama wasn't really there in spirit (his critics say this - I don't)

Romney was debating a false projection of President Obama that was in his imagination (which he has done from the beginning with his false accusations). A reference to Clint's empty chair where supposedly he was talking to the President and getting answers (which were all in his imagination and therefore not based on reality)

And a third idea is in this cartoon. That Romney performed all by himself, which in a very real way he did. He just made it all up as he went (lied, lied, and then lied some more). These aggressive lies were perceived by many to be Romney winning the debate (not by me, unless there's a prize for how many lies one can tell in 90 minutes).

The New Yorker is calling it as they see it in this case.

We better realize that.

Some people are getting the message that Obama didn't care or didn't fight on Wednesday night.

Even Democrats like James Carville said that's what it looked like.

We can't let that happen again.
