2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumOne Last Plea: Get Over The Damn Debate and Stop Obsessing About Every Damn Poll
For the love of Christmas on Sundays, get over the debate. It was a bad performance. We get it. Shrug it off and move on. The American people are not going to care about the damn debate when they go to vote.
Also, please stop posting polls from suspect sources. I don't care if the "America Chooses Poll" shows Mitt Romney in the lead in Colorado by 2 points. Some of you curl up in the fetal position without even considering the source. Have you thought that the Republicans may be saturating the media with fake ass polls in order to create some kind of wave?
If you must follow polling, go to Nate Silver's blog. Nate is even-handed and straight forward without any political bias. He called the 2010 midterm elections much to the chagrin of many here, and he confirmed vote totals in the Wisc. Supreme Court race which outraged some here. So, he's a straight shooter, and he has Obama at 84% chance of winning the Electoral College.
If you still find yourself worrying 48 hours after the debate, then take some action. Donate $5 to Grayson or Warren. Go make some phone calls. Go read a book. Exercise. Do something other than post doom and gloom on DU.
And yes, I know about the hide feature. Thank you very much.

(3,491 posts)when Obama and his people show that he can fight back. I'm mystified as to what they could've been thinking in having him go out to "have a conversation with America." Worst debate performance in Presidential debate history and totally shocking to everyone.
Wake up Plouffe, Axelrod, and Obama, we want to win this thing and put the Thugs in their place.

(62,683 posts)as to WTF their strategy was, I'm confident they will adjust the course. I think they were as surprised as we at the show Romney put on. I predict they won't be caught like that again.

(365 posts)I don't know what is. Do you realize how hard he had to fight to become the first Black man to become leader of the Free World? It was hard fought, and you should know this if you are over 9. How many have tried and failed, to be in the office he is in right now.
Just because he did not act like a thug on speed like Romney did, it disappoints some of you.
Good Dog, the idea that he can't fight is one of the stupidest out there.

(26,268 posts)It's hard not to assume that the number of doom and gloom new members are posting from a script. I'll try not to, but it really is pretty annoying. I haven't used the hide feature, yet, but I've got some targets in mind.

(365 posts)I don't consider overbearing aggression, like a demon on speed, and lying, as winning. This is Romney ~~~>

(8,791 posts)ever, with the exception of Admiral Stockdale in the VP debate in 92.
Still can't get over how bad Obama was.

(212 posts)It is so easy to get caught up in doom and gloom about the debates and polls.
We must all remember we have the truth and Big Bird on our side...

(93 posts)wonder if we should make a poll about it?
To be honest I never really check out the polls - numbers never really interest me, unless they have to do with policy facts or something. It reminds me of poker in a way. Don't count your chips at the table because it doesn't matter, what matters is how you are playing the game. When you count your chips, you become results orientated and neglect to acknowledge the effects of variance, which can have a negative impact. Why should we not be results orientated? Because we have a solid game plan, and the odds are in our favor, so in the long term a winner.

(15,667 posts)about the debates and polls is going to stop them from obsessing about every damn debate and every damn poll?
Honestly, you just have to ignore it. There are a lot of high strung people here who care too much about the subject to be rational and a light sprinkling of "concern trolls" as well.....
I just try to avoid any "hair on fire" posts and stick to the calm ones.

(53,410 posts)Some days I'm not so proud of some of the DU members. They feel so entitled to throw a brilliant man under the bus. President Obama is making and changing history daily, but goddam if he makes one fucking perceived mistake and he doesn't get eaten alive by those who claim to support him.

(827 posts)Folks need some perspective here. If the Obama campaign was run like these boards, they wouldn't be winning and holding such a strong hand.
I decided to take the week off from poll watching and check back in for the VP debate reaction.
