(47,675 posts)He was FUNNY! They must have had a blast doing that. I didn't agree with most of what O'Reilly said (but curiously, a little of it), but they make a perfect pair and they did it for charity!
I hope they went out for beers after that. It had way more substance than any presidential debate I've ever seen. But the comedy alone was worth the watch.

(5,810 posts)feeling less animosity toward O'Reilly. They both made good points, with Jon Stewart delivering some of his best lines (barbs) yet. I don't know if any minds were changed by what they said but what they demonstrated was important: It IS possible for two people with very different beliefs and points of view to come together, discuss, compare and contrast those points of view and still shake hands at the end and act civilized and cordial to one another.
This is something that is lacking in this country when people are actually afraid to state their point of view, put a bumper sticker on their car or put a political yard sign out for fear of backlash, hatred and personal danger. It has gotten way out of hand. We need more demonstrations like the kind these two guys gave that people of differing views can talk, yes, even argue their points and still be civilized and come away feeling good about what they did.
Watch and learn.
I put myself in that category of timid citizen since I live in a very red part of a reddish-blueish state. No bumper stickers for me, no yard signs. And that is sad.
