2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumPhoto of what is on my kitchen table, and the reason why: Bernie related
Today I accepted two Bernie volunteers to stay in my hourse in NC til the vote on March 15. The HQ is just around the corner from me. One is a young woman who has PTSD (don't know why yet) and she is beautiful / very smart / six feet tall and has with her a Jack Russell terrier service dog that looks like the dog in the movie "The Artist". Best Dog Ever.
The other is a young man from Pittsburgh, who worked in Iowa, and graduated from my local University Wake Forest U. Also studied and traveled in Italy and South America, he and I have in common that we have both been to Machu Picchu. He will be running the Headquarters.
I got the button because I begged it off the woman. I hope she has more, they are home made.
I am excited because I am helping (will fix dinner every day) and don't have to work a phone bank which is a thought filled with terror.
Heck, I don't know why I'm telling all this, but the button is a real gift, and there are many ways to bring about the South to feel the Bern.
(by the way, I have a new City Councilman running for office. He called tonight and asked if he could put a sign in my yard and it was affirmative, I'm for him. I told him I'd place it next to my Bernie sign. He said "that would bring me honor".)

I'm a sign maker and have the equipment --- I'll be making a stack of DU's own (Jackpine Radical's design) of the white on black "I'm for the Fringe Candidate" stickers. Except, now no longer fringe, I will put We feel the Bern underneath it. They can sell them at the HQ and make some money for Bernie.

Thank you for all that you are doing. Hosting those volunteers is really a wonderful thing. We hosted four in our home in Iowa, and it was such a great experience. We'll be friends for life.
You should be excited. Just think of all of the work, phone calls and door knocks that will happen because you hosted these people. Phone calling can be intimidating and it's not for everyone. So cool that you found what works for you and you made it happen. I am sure these volunteers are so grateful for your generosity and hospitality.
Please keep us posted on how it's going.
So wonderful to hear about good people doing great things. Very uplifting!

It allowed me to fully realize it's OK that I am doing what I am most comfortable with and therefore help the cause just as much as if I were doing something I can't do easily.
I love it when good things come together.
I did this before, hosted a volunteer for Kay Hagan (Senator) who came here from Washington.
She and I are permanent friends now.
