?itok=oynH45QRArtist and activist Shepard Fairey, who designed the iconic Hope poster during then-Sen. Barack Obamas 2008 presidential campaign, is backing Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders.
Im supporting Bernie Sanders, because I want to push principles, not personalities, Fairey said in a video released by the Sanders campaign on Wednesday evening.

(2,382 posts)There was an idiotic accusation that Fairey "stole" the photo reference he used to create the poster, but that was total, wall-to-wall bullshit cranked up by some anti-Obama corporatists looking to set a legal precedent with a lawsuit that would stretch the boundaries of copyright protections to ridiculous extremes, just as patent trolls do.
What was Fairey supposed to do, go to Obama's house to take pictures of him? If he used the actual photo, that would have been one thing; he would have owed AP a royalty. But reference is fair use.
I've been in the graphics business for more than 50 years, so I know a little bit about it.
Rule of thumb: NEVER trust a corporatist any farther than you can throw a truck. They are, without exception, lower than snake shit in a tire track.

(14,274 posts)Hillary on the other hand would like to build on Obama's message of hope.
"NO, we can't"
That works?

(16,916 posts)you mean like your fabricated nonsense: "Most Bernie supporters I come across on DU trash Obama and his message of hope. "
Why do Hillary supporters have such a loose relationship with the truth?

(14,274 posts)His message of Hope has been ridiculed and mocked by many DUers that I now see eagerly embracing Bernie's message of Hope. Insinuating I am untruthful for pointing this out is not very nice. In fact.. Obama was attacked with the same "No we can't" crap in 2012 along with calls for him to be primaried.
Anyway, "No, we can't" is just a made up slogan meant to demean a Democratic candidate. And it's just hyperbolic and inaccurate.

Sanders IS the Democratic Party, AFAIC. His views are closer to New Deal politics than we've seen since FDR.
That's why I support him.

(18,115 posts)ANd Bernie's folks do not trash the Hope that was Candidate Obama. They do, however, criticize what came after the Inauguration.

(3,937 posts)the red white and black, the stylized winged figure, the retro 30s feel is all wrong. Even the font, which makes it look like "Beanie" is wrong.
When I see a 1930s look with nationalist symbols I tend to think of the guy with the little mustache and I don't mean Chaplin. So wrong.

(15,719 posts)the past. Reminds me of the old Social Security and war bonds, etc. Very 30-40-50 nationalistic in its design. Beautiful, but does not fit Bernie's view of the future.

(3,937 posts)Not Hitler himself, just Nazi propaganda graphics. I think it is mostly the wings. Without the winged figure at the bottom it would just be kind of retro 1930s...which reminds me of the Great Depression... still not good.
