On the whole primary challenger for Obama thing...

Earlier in this election cycle, there was a narrative that Bernie's run would push (or pull...forcibly) Hillary to the left. It was largely viewed as a good thing, since she is in actuality closer to the center than the left. This would bring her more in line with strongly held Democratic ideals.

Rewind back to 2012 when Bernie's infamous and apparently offensive remarks about a primary challenge for Obama happened. Why did he say that? It was partly for two reasons, if I recall correctly, one was him not standing up strongly for a public option and negotiating from the center with Republicans. The other was some of his statements regarding Social Security and being willing to negotiate on some things like a chained CPI.

If pushing (or pulling...whichever) Hillary to the left is a good thing this time around, how was it a bad thing for Obama in 2012?

Bernie was not supposed to get this far. Consternation abounds.

Oh, and Hillary could not be moved to the left by anything at all. That was never going to happen. Bernie was supposed to just shepherd us progressive sheep into the chute marked Hillary.

Anyone making a stink about Bernie's 2012 statements are likely to be the ones saying he's a) not a Democrat b) stands no chance in the general and/or c) is a one issue candidate.

She would appear to be more along the Sanders line of thinking but it would be just more flipflop and return to her core line of thinking and acting all for the 1% elites...
