Bernie Sanders Plan to Deschedule Marijuana Earns Support of Former Surgeon General

Bernie Sanders’ proposal to deschedule marijuana just got a big endorsement: former Surgeon General Dr. Joycelyn Elders.

“I certainly would support” it, Dr. Elders told Marijuana Politics on Saturday. “You know, we don’t have cigarettes [in the Controlled Substances Act]. We don’t have alcohol on it,” she added, “So I think that marijuana should be removed and studied and looked at.” Dr. Joycelyn Elders was in San Francisco for the International Cannabis Business Conference where she delivered a keynote address on marijuana reform.

and stopped taking oxycodone over a year ago for my chronic pain and still having problems trying to find a doctor to prescribe medical MJ. Never mind the strict limitations for use and the illnesses one can receive a card. After all said and done who know if I can even afford to buy it.

If you are still in the state, you might want to try and get a medical card here. I know several people with one and it seems fairly easy to get here.

Maybe if you took that to a doctor in NYS it would be easier for you to get your prescription.

Just throwing it out there.

I should of made that clear and I'm sorry I did not do so. Actually, I was surprised to see that thread take off like that. Glad to hear you were able to be there. I wish I could experience such a wonderful gathering in person

chronic pain is one hellacious beotch. I have fibromyalgia and an arthritic spine. Don't you know someone who knows someone? It's legal now in Oregon. Before that, I knew someone who knew someone. My best healing and coping vibes to you.

I also suffer from an arthritic spine plus other complications. I have been out of touch with all of my friends due to being disabled for so long that I have no connections. I've been looking into other things like Kratom but I can't get over the fear of the unknown. Funny thing though I have been involved in some clinical trials. I thought what the hell I might as well get paid for my pain and feel as least I'm helping is some strange way

I hope you find some relief and hope you can find something that has no adverse reaction. I don't trust big pharma, seems like they cause more harm and problems. Ibuprofen and pot are my main pain defense, I have a script for tramadol (non addictive) that I might need one or two days a month. Mostly, I just try to keep my sunny side up and hope you can too.

I have not gotten that far yet and hope it will not be that costly. In NYS you can not smoke and there are no edibles allowed so who knows.

by jailing people for using it. And think of the new crimes we'll have to invent to keep profits growing if we lose out on the low hanging fruit the so-called War on Drugs provides.
