How the Nevada presidential caucuses work

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Small Nevada — population 3 million — became one of the first four states in the presidential nominating process thanks to an effort a decade ago to add more diversity to the early voting calendar.

Nevada is now a frequent stop for candidates in both parties, though not nearly as popular as Iowa and New Hampshire.

Here's how the Nevada caucuses work and a little history about the event, which happens for Democrats on Saturday and for Republicans on Feb. 23.
