My first vote for president was 1964. Voted every election since. Now:

I am so confused, discouraged, upset and generally disgusted by events this year. I guess I thought I'd seen it all but this year beats every other pre-election politics.

I know for whom I will vote. What upsets me most is the possibility that my choice will lose and we are left with the R candidate as President.
The thought of a trump president or any of the other R's boggles my mind.

Any of them would be the first step to an American Armageddon.

(Just the musings of an old timer who cares about this country.)

As for Trump, he scares the devil out of me. I am skeptical of the whole process, it's not like we have not had questionable situations before.

Trump can successfully market himself as something new; as a break from the past. A lot of people are looking for that. After years of prioritizing big business and the wealthy we've seen working class and middle class income stagnate while the income of the wealthy has increased by leaps and bounds. Reagan, Bush I, Clinton, Bush II, Obama; we haven't really seen much of a change.

So if the American people are faced with something new vs. Hillary Clinton, who despite her admirable qualities is just a return to what we've had before, what will they choose? Hard to say; particularly as Trump talks like an actual authoritarian dictator. We'll have to see.

I think how any GOP candidate needs to get at least 30% of the Latino vote. Is Trump going to get that against either Hillary or Bernie? No. He's going to get small single digits of both the black and Latino vote. He's going to get destroyed by the women's vote. He's going to get old white men, and rednecks in general. I see him breaking 40%. Barely. The only way we lose is if we stay home.

PS; I'm and old white man and he sure as shit ain't getting my vote.

how red would congress be after republicans get to run against her in '18 and '20? Voting for Hillary is trying to stay where we are, do you like where we are?

I know, I know, you don't agree with that. Good luck with that, we'll need it.

For LBJ. He was far from perfect, but the alternative was Goldwater.

This election reminds me of that one. And once again, I think we'll see a Democratic landslide.
