2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI was glad to git rid of them, Bernie's office was glad to get them
I called Bernie's Omaha office this morning about getting some yard signs. They said they have plenty of the plastic signs, but are temporarily out of the stands they go on.
Back when I ran for city council (twice) I had yard signs. I still had left over 2 boxes of 100 stands. Packed them in the car.
Went to the dentist first. I got a temp crown. I might have popped out at lunch and I couldn't tell because I was still numb. So I'm going back there at 5.
So I drove to Bernie's office. I told them what I came to donate. I made a lot of people happy. I explained they were just taking up space in my garage.
Somebody walked in the door and wanted to help, but didn't want to do phoning. Can you put signs together and staple them? Sure. The stapling is to keep them from flying off in the wind. So there is a lot more to pitching in than just calling and door knocking.
Anyway Bernie got 200 union made in the USA brackets. I brought home the empty cardboard box to recycle it.
Edit to add I delivered signs to friends on the way home.

(7,499 posts)You are such a good guy, OS. Every day you make a difference.
I contacted the Bernie store a few days ago and asked about the status of my yard signs, and explained that our caucuses are March 5, so time is of the essence. They said they would be shipped in a day or two, but I still don't have any confirmation that they've been sent.
We're on a fairly busy corner and have a really good location for signs. I ordered one for the front yard and one for the side. Keeping my fingers crossed they show up soon, but if not, I guess I'll just have to wait until the general election to display them!

(11,366 posts)When I got mine, I just took the drape because they are so low on the stands. I had a couple of old stands from my Obama signs that worked and just took the faded O sign off and plopped on the Bernie sign. The stand is a bit rusted, but no one really sees that.
How much are those things and where can you get them? I'd love to order some for our field office.

(11,366 posts)Besides, I use a union printing shop here in Knoxville at work. They don't need the signs, they just need the stands like what you had. Where do you get those?

(99,655 posts)They should be able to drop ship straight from the manufacturer to anywhere.

(213 posts)We live on a rural road outside of our town in Maine. Our sign is on a tree high enough not to be covered by all the snow that didn't come. I've seen only two up, including ours, within about a two mile radius of our house. No Hillary signs at all.

(9,323 posts)I was beginning to wonder if Bernie had any presence in NE. I have received lots of mail from Hillary but having seen anything from Bernie. I think he can easily win this state if not totally outspent and out everythinged.

(9,323 posts)Of course everyone out west hates her (and not because they're Bernie fans) My folks live out there and canvassing and door knocking has got to be dang frustrating. They probably get laughed off the property or threats of violence from 9 out of every 10 houses.

(20,453 posts)Yes, there are a lot of ways people can volunteer. People teach people, based on their previous experience in all walks of life.
You do a lot of life, Omaha Steve. May your perm crown stay with you!

I got a kit from local store once to fit my temporary one. Works great if you can't get back to the dds right away.
