Santorum: Protestantism left the world of Christianity

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/18/rick-santorum-protestantism_n_1286471.html

As far as Rick Santorum is concerned, mainstream Protestantism "is gone from the world of Christianity." That's what he told students at Florida's Ave Maria University, founded by Domino's Pizza mogul Tom Monaghan, during a 2008 lecture. The clip was unearthed by People for the American Way and played on Saturday's "Up With Chris Hayes" on MSNBC. "We all know that this country was founded on a Judeo-Christian ethic. But the Judeo-Christian ethic -- sure the Catholics had some influence -- but this was a Protestant country," said Santorum. "And the Protestant ethic, mainstream, mainline Protestantism, and of course we look at the shape of mainline Protestantism in this country and it is a shambles, it is gone from the world of Christianity as I see it."

Is there a dumber dumb fucker around? What we need, another schism.

As his head swells with success, he'll just keep thinking it's safe to say what he really believes (I won't use the word 'thinks' because that's obviously not happening). 'Hoist on his own petard' is the phrase that comes to mind.

6. What is true is this: mainline liberal-leaning Protestants are losing influence in this country

Only the fundagelical denominations are growing or remain stagnant within Protestantism. Mainline Protestants are disproportionately older and have fewer children, and they tend not to proselytize to others.

Catholicism is growing due to Hispanic immigration. To a lesser extent, the same could be said about Islam in America too. Mormonism is growing because they proselytize and have high birth rates.

A growing number of American liberals are athiest or agnostic as well.

And just to cover my ass: yes Santorum is full of crap.
