(47,803 posts)I'm Bernie all the way, and support the climate change agenda.
But on a cosmic level, if we're already going down, does it make a difference?

(4,280 posts)Bernie's idea of putting a tax on carbon emissions is a good way to start.

(26,549 posts)If they did, we wouldn't be here.
If we do nothing, lots of plants and animals will go extinct. Billions of humans will die....leaving billions of humans alive.
If we stop doing incremental crap, we might save some of those plant and animal species. And fewer billions of humans will die.

(1,508 posts)And, thank you Naomi Klein. Hopefully sooner rather than later the populous will understand this is one of if not the most important problem we face on this planet, and the person selected for president should not be someone who is owned by corporate America.

I wouldn't dismiss her because of a few misplaced digits while typing.

(49,389 posts)a talking heads show. After Hill wraps up the nomination, Naomi will be forced to train her guns back on the GOP. I'll lighten up on her at that.

(35,685 posts)Put "Hillary" in quotes, as you are talking about a word. "Great journalists you are" is not only an incomplete sentence, but it addresses Naomi in the plural through the use of the "s" and the "are." Naomi is clearly not two people.
Please write a little more. I'm not teaching grammar this semester and I'm sure you won't let my skills get rusty.

So they moved it to going through the US keystone XL... never heard on TV that even Canadian's didn't want it.

Like I always say, "There is no Plan(et) B."

82. I didn't think much of her when we were at UofT together...
she seemed to be about self-promotion back then. Guess it worked out for her OK.
She was a writer, then editor of The Varsity. Heard her speak a few times.
I remember she used to be a bit of drinker. But that was twenty three years ago.

I don't hold somebody's college experience against them. I think we all have some done some experimenting at one time or another (for some of us it was one time AND another).

(15,369 posts)but I would have respected her more if she stayed out of our electoral politics. Does she really want to see a GOPer in the WH?
I will agree to disagree with her opinion. If Hillary does get the nomination, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Hillary invite Naomi to provide some input about the issues that Naomi has written so beautifully about. Hillary is a very gracious person who actually solicits input from those who hold opposing views, listens, and learns accordingly.
Too many see that as a fault. I see it as a major strength.

(381 posts)She takes the money and takes the money and takes the money and gives nothing in return. She is the first person in the history of the earth to achieve this miraculous state. It's almost like she's a sorcerer the way corporations can't throw money at her fast enough and all for nothing in return. It's a miracle, praise the lord! If you are a skeptic you might not believe her but she has that covered too. You see, she told us she never never ever lies. So all you Bernie supporters should be happy when it's over that there will be a "Goldmans Girl" in the white house.

(33,525 posts)...is more of the same, which is failing big time.
We spent two trillion dollars in the last 10 years on so called "renewable energy," tore up huge sections of China to isolate exotic metals, including extremely toxic cadmium - 10% of Southern China's rice crop is now badly contaminated with this metal - and so called "renewable energy" in the form of solar and wind does not produce 5 of the 560 exajoules of energy humanity consumes each year.
2015 was recorded - once the data is finalized - as either the worst year ever observed for increases in carbon dioxide, or the second worst.
Bernie Sanders' State - which did not dump a single molecule of carbon dioxide to generate electricity for decades - now is dependent on electricity provided by dangerous natural gas.
To suggest that Bernie Sanders will learn enough epidemiology, chemistry, physics and engineering knowledge to adjudge nuclear energy in a realistic and fair way is absurd. Nothing in his career shows any level of having a clue on this topic.
Nuclear energy need not be perfect, without risk, and without cost to be superior to everything else. It only needs to be superior to everything else, which it is.
The efforts on the left to deny these simple facts is our creationism frankly. We are making the situation worse, not better.
