(1,508 posts)Kevin Chapman, 21, was among the long line of voters standing outside the Convocation Center early Monday morning to hear Sanders speak.
I think that our country is in dire need of a change politically, economically, socially, Chapman said. I feel as though he has the best platform for the Democratic Party, he has the best chance to win the nomination.
Some students and supporters waited up to five hours outside the Convocation Center to get a seat for the rally.
In wrapping up his nearly hour long speech, Sanders said his campaign is about the courage to stand up to billionaires, large financial institutions and insurance companies.
Together we have an opportunity in this campaign, not only to elect a new president, but more importantly to create a political revolution which transforms our country, Sanders said.
Sanders called for the resignation of Michigan governor Rick Snyder in the wake of the Flint water crisis. He said there are no excuses for the undrinkable status of Flints water supply and wrote that Snyder knew about the lead in Flints water long ago and did nothing.

(27,813 posts)So the snow wouldn't have deterred students who wanted to go to the rally (I'm not saying this to disparage a fine turnout, but MSU students are capable of hoofing it to a rally in the snow).

(73 posts)There is a big Arab presence in MI, specifically in Dearborn and its surroundings. They can deliver more than 10,000 votes just in this area alone. You just need to get them to vote. They are all for Bernie. Historically, Arabs are not very much involved in politics here in the US (2008 was an exception). I know that they are all for Bernie. I have relatives and friends there (more than 100), and I know they are all for Bernie. Few of them were contacted by Bernie's campaign. Please relay the message that they need to be contacted and just get them to vote.
HRC destructive policies in the ME is having a big effect on them. Look at Libya ( I wonder what kind of foreign affair experience she is boasting). Libya and Syria are the major source of ISIS operatives. Disgusting. All because of the ill judgment of HRC.
Let me tell you this: 3 candidates will get the US to war if they get to the WH. Cruz, Rubio and HRC. I wonder how much did the Saudis and Qataris pay HRC to convince Obama about Syria and Libya course of action. It has been a disaster. 100's of thousands died and we have ISIS. Utter disaster.

(28,876 posts)Good backdrop to talk about the automotive industry too. Though Highland Park may be stronger.
If I were Bernie, though, I would focus on Macomb and Oakland counties. Washtenaw will be largely in the bag for Bernie.
