(6,476 posts)I quit watching MSM a long time ago...
you must have some stories. I keep the TV on in the back round to break up the silence since I spend a lot of time on my own.

(6,476 posts)I use audio books and Internet radio for that. I got a little Bluetooth speaker, it's great.

(13,873 posts)I bet I can tell you something surprising. Of course Wallace was a Dixie candidate, but his racist appeal travelled well. He won the Maryland and Michigan primaries, even though in both cases the polls showed him running a poor 3rd.
Same thing I think I am seeing about Trump. Most people won't admit they are supporting him, but then they get into the private voting booth and their worst instincts take over.
UglyGreed
(7,661 posts)years old at the time of the rally I saw on the show. Crazy absolutely crazy that he win those two primaries.
SCantiGOP
(13,873 posts)in large part the support of union voters. He convinced a lot of white guys that the Dems were going to use affirmative action to displace them with black workers.
His refrain was "there ain't a dimes worth of difference in the two parties." So you might can call him the spiritual grandfather of the Tea Party.

(7,661 posts)very very bad. I try not to watch Trump but Wallace for what I saw was much worse. Different times and maybe Trump is trying to go back in time one step at a time SMH!

(8,168 posts)Trump's arrogance is the dangerous kind. He believes his crazy rhetoric with no doubts. Narcissistic nut case he is.
UglyGreed
(7,661 posts)and I'm surprised I have not come across what Wallace was doing. I'm going to have to do some research.

(2,145 posts)to compare him to Wallace isn't accurate. That may feel good but it is bad journalism. I haven't seen much good reporting from maddow in a long time. She's really more of a paid advertisement for Clinton. Maybe I'm wrong . . . I do still check in with MSNBC but rarely stay. But when she comes on, I'm out in a flash. I'll go even further: since she teamed up with Bryan for the panel discussions which I used to like, I see them as rather clownish. His faux elitism and her second banana funny person. I guess I really don't like her, huh?

That said, Rachel dear come here... the same goes for the rest of the networks. WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU GUYS GIVING TRUMP SO MUCH AIR TIME?
Do you realize this is why the Fairness Doctrine was passed... to prevent exactly what you guys are doing? I will, and historians will as well, blame YOU GUYS for this if Trump is elected POTUS. and I give him good odds.

(22,871 posts)republicans could siphon off a certain segment of the democratic party using racism. Wallace was a democrat, for those too young to know.
