Related: About this forumI think that Hilary will pick Sanders as her running mate if she gets the nomination,
he has a huge base and they will win. Who do you think she will pick if she makes the nomination?

I swear some Hillary supporters just don't understand what this election is about. Sanders supporters respect Sanders but we are supporting him because of his position on the issues. If he were on a Clinton ticket we would no longer be attracted because our issues would DIE.

(10,721 posts)...if she wants to pick someone more appealing to Sanders's supporters, she could select Sherrod Brown (from the key swing state of Ohio). She won't pick Sanders, though. And I don't think she'll pick Warren.

clinton won't even pretend to reach out to bernie supporters if she wins.she will pick another corporist who will be her attack dog.
it will be to bernie supporters you have to vote for me to stop trump.never mind how much she lied and swifboated bernie.

(23,664 posts)Might be good to have Sanders on the ticket if it happens after the convention.
But otherwise, the suggestion is bullshit. She wouldn't ask him and he'd never accept. Their whole philosophy is miles apart.

(23,156 posts)how party politics works will understand this won't happen. Nor will Bernie have Hillary as his VP if he wins the nomination. Just as Obama did not select her as his VP eight years ago.
The two are too far apart ideologically and simply would not be able to play, I mean work well together. Do you really think Bernie would stop talking about a $15 minimum wage just because the head of the ticket only wants a $12 minimum? Do you think he'd be suddenly okay with all the PAC money that would be used to prop up the campaign?
To repeat myself, no, the ticket will NOT be Clinton-Sanders, nor Sanders-Clinton.
Meanwhile, I am not sufficiently knowledgeable to make any guesses as to a VP pick for either one.

(2,074 posts)As would Bernie if by some miracle he gets the nomination.
If you have an older presidential candidate, you need to balance that out with a younger candidate.
My money is on Julian Castro. Maybe Tom Perez. Younger (age balance), male (gender balance), Latino (huge voting block).

(14,733 posts)Ie, do they think that just because they'd follow their candidate onto a ticket if she were made VP, or is it because they've lied to themselves so much that they actually really do believe Bernie supporters are merely a cult of personality, and blindly follow Bernie simply because he's Bernie?

(14,177 posts)I have said things that are clearly not positions Bernie has taken and been told that I just say that because I am a Bernie supporter. (27,814 posts)... with a long-time friend who is now a BS supporter. He's Canadian, and rather naive about how US politics work.
I explained to him that a candidate chooses a running mate that supports their policies and positions, and NOT someone who will stand behind them every time they speak, waving their finger in the air while yelling, "No! You're doing it all WRONG!"
HRC's supporters would be EXTREMELY disappointed if she chose BS - in the same way that BS supporters would be disappointed if he chose her.
They are too far apart ideologically, as well as in demeanour and approach.
I think Hill will choose someone younger, probably male, and someone who can use their tenure as VP to launch their own presidential campaign when the time comes.

Seriously not a good idea.
And, even if I loved both of them, I would not want Bernie as a VP.
The VP is a dead-end job if you are old (Think Joe Biden).
Bernie needs to win and be President, and have a young VP to grab the brass ring when Bernie is done in 2025.
