(38,437 posts)How does that work?
Perhaps you haven't seen it being floated around out of nowhere of late. I guarantee it's not coming from his side. He is not looking to be VP.

(2,052 posts)He (Devine) is talking about a subject that is being floated around from your side.
Edit: Floating around to further make it look like a foregone conclusion that she will win.

(2,052 posts)There were multiple posts here the other day on the topic. FYI
Lizzie Poppet
(10,164 posts)...I can't see it happening for, oh, about a zillion reasons.
ibegurpard
(16,685 posts)It would completely undercut Sanders' credibility and reason for running in the first place. That anyone would seriously think this would fly goes to show how horribly they understand the fundamental dynamics at play in the rise of the "outsiders".
Lizzie Poppet
(10,164 posts)I'd certainly be aghast.

(4,311 posts)Young, likeable, qualified, and brings more strength to the ticket. No downsides that I've seen yet. AND it doesn't remove a Democratic senator from the Senate, which is of premium importance.
SheenaR
(2,052 posts)But Castro... no downsides.. What are his upsides?
firebrand80
(2,760 posts)He looks good on paper, but you never know whether someone can handle the national spotlight until they actually do it

(2,052 posts)I like the proven entity. We have seen the effect a bad running mate in debates can have on the course of a GE
auntpurl
(4,311 posts)He's a VP choice. Likeability and strength to the ticket are high on my list.
SheenaR
(2,052 posts)I don't know what his strengths are, that's all.
auntpurl
(4,311 posts)I haven't heard too many other choices that had much more substance to them, though. Any thoughts?
SheenaR
(2,052 posts)I like Tim Kaine personally

(4,311 posts)I am so excited about VA turning steadily blue, though. I used to live there, and I am thrilled to see the transformation!
Lizzie Poppet
(10,164 posts)That's a big ask (since it's Texas), and it's a big consideration in the VP selection process.
auntpurl
(4,311 posts)Can't wait! And certainly the Latino vote is key to that happening. It may not happen this election cycle, but wouldn't it be a huge thrill if it did?

It was on fox town hall. Take your fabricated outrage else where stop clogging up the boards with low information posts.

(42,862 posts)... or as someone that Hillary would value enough to have on her ticket.
Of course, the implication is (although incorrect) that Bernie is worth a 2nd-look because "Hillary is considering him as VP".
The aide didn't say it, but that's the "feeling" they want to get out there.
It's desperate. And it's not working.
MineralMan
(146,317 posts)Bernie would rather be in the Senate, where he can actually do something.

(23,664 posts)Second of all, she'd never ask him. As paranoid as she is, she'd be scared all the time that he was plotting against her.
The only advantage I could see is that after she goes to jail, he could assume the presidency and implement his agenda.

(4,451 posts)or his aide would not do such political posturing. IMO
frazzled
(18,402 posts)Whether joking or not, it's an inadvertent admission that Clinton will be the one to have the VP choice. It's an innuendo that suggests your candidate is not going to prevail. Top advisors should be smarter than to ever speak like that, even in jest. There are a thousand better answers to the question, "How is HRC going to attract younger voters?" You could say, "she won't have to, because Sanders will be the nominee." Or you could say you don't think she can, or whatever. What you don't say is that "she can pick my candidate, who is running for the same nomination, as her VP."
D'oh.

(55,745 posts)That Maiaer guy from Fox tee vee during the Michigan town hall.
SANDERS: We are -- we're talking about running this campaign to win to become president of the United States.
SANDERS: Not talking about vice president.
BAIER: Senator Sanders, thank you very much.
SANDERS: Thank you, Bret. Thank you all.
