"But this momentous question.

Like a fire bell in the night, awakened and filled me with terror."
Thomas Jefferson

On January 20th, 1981, George H. W. Bush became VP of the United States. That would be the beginning of a 32 year continuous period in which a Bush or Clinton would be a member on the executive branch of the government.
That run was broken when HRC stepped down as SoS on February 1st, 2013.

In this election cycle alone we had a third Bush attempt a run for the presidency that failed and there are others in their clan that aspire to that role in the future. We currently have a second Clinton running for the presidency as well.

Why did we shed the rags of a monarch 240 years ago only to pick them back up again now? At what point did we allow this hegemony to take seed in our nation? When did we concede the prosperity of others for the wealth and power of a few? Those of politics and commerce act with impunity in the lives of millions. While so many begrudge a small amount of coin to aid in the prosperity of others, the few continue to consolidate and magnify their wealth. As income inequality becomes even more disparate across the globe so do the needs of those that become its victim.

How can we live for a hopeful future when our present is hand to mouth? How can our children see a hopeful future when they don't see the will for one in our words and deeds? Concession and compromise are tools for those that deal on an equal footing. We come to the table on a chair with shorter legs.
This is the beginning to a better end if we want it. No matter who's banner you follow, see where we are as a call for change, not for what we know and makes us comfortable but the challenges and hard choices we have yet to face.
