2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHillary Clinton insists she is retiring from politics.
I can't see it. She's 63 or 64- still quite young in the political world.

(149,635 posts)Look at her face. She is exhausted...
Traveling all over the globe.
She already said she would not serve another 4 years as SOS.
She's more than ready for something a lot less strenuous.

(62,276 posts)The reports seemed credible given Clinton's strong interest in international development. But the former first lady and U.S. senator flatly denied any interest, saying she looked forward to getting out of the fast lane.
Clinton's Sherman-like denials from last spring remained "operative," an aide said Wednesday.
"She has said this is not happening," said Victoria Nuland, the chief State Department spokesperson. "Her view has not changed."
Ryan McMaken is hardly a paragon of truth, he's using typical Lew Rockwell right wing Libertarian double speak to try to indicate that Hillary is going in that direction.
Could be wrong, but I don't see it.

(9,791 posts)She looks like she is exhausted. I would never criticize her if she retired from public service. I can't even imagine what her schedule is like.

(37,540 posts)She's done her service to this country and I'm sure that there are plenty of competent people who can step in as SOS.

(26,219 posts)She does more in a week than most of us do in a month. She is also worth millions and doesn't need the job.
Let her retire and participate in public service when and how she chooses as opposed to living on airplanes.

(31,706 posts)Between the intense political gamesmanship and the non-stop travel you can see how this position has worn on Mrs. Clinton. She can look back on 4 years of accomplishment. If there's a role in her future, I see it on the Supreme Court...
exboyfil
(17,863 posts)but I seriously doubt it. She would be 69 which would make her as old as Reagan when he won his first term. Her age may also preclude any consideration for Supreme Court. You want 40 somethings nominated to the Court.
The big question I have is who is in the bullpen for 2016 for the Democratic party.
Cuomo
Biden
Warren
Napolitano
Kaine
Webb

(63,912 posts)I like them all a LOT.
But I want Warren at the top of the ticket. No second place for that woman!
Beacool
(30,250 posts)And Warren is only 2 years younger than Hillary. I still hope that, after much needed rest, she changes her mind. Hillary is a doer, she's not the type to sit around.

'Nuff said.
AtomicKitten
(46,585 posts)I'll add it to the list as Arab Spring has already been attributed to Bradley Manning for his data dump and to Pres Obama for his 2009 speech in Egypt.

(36,444 posts)I also expect to meet her down the road carrying Jimmy Carter's spear; Ambassador at large or Ombudsman or something

(50,950 posts)She is a sensible person and will more likely find a cause she wants to be involved in that is not as intense. Or prepare herself to be a grandmother. Even in retirement she will do more than the Bush wives did as First Ladies combined.
Arkana
(24,347 posts)I can see it.
