Virginia HB1 and HB462

Thought I would share what I wrote to my commonwealth house and senate reps here in Virginia regarding the anti-abortion crap we are going through right now:

I am writing to express my dismay and disappointment with respect to HB1 and HB 462. First and foremost I am disappointed that these types of issues have reached the floor for consideration. We have a great many, very serious problems in our commonwealth that are far more deserving of this level of attention and support. This issue deserves to be HB1? This issue is so critical that right now, with everything else going on, this is the most important thing you have to do? Roads, bridges and other infrastructure are falling apart around us and yet this is more important? A weak economy with anemic job creation and yet this is more important? Children go to classes in trailers next to their school they can’t go in but his is more important? Nothing else can get the attention it deserves and nothing of any value can make any headway to make a real difference in the lives of your constituents. This has to happen right now? Now, we have this worthless, vile, unproductive mess that has been all but shot through the system at the legislative equivalent of the speed of light that is passing without regard to the actual wishes of the people it effects and the will of the people whose name it is supposedly being done in.

Let me make this unambiguously clear. These bills, HB1 and HB462, do not have my support as your constituent. These bills are as worthless and pointless as the change they attempt to effect. We have serious problems out here in the real world. We elected you to get actual work done that will improve the lives of the citizens of the commonwealth. Work this hard to improve our economy. Work this hard to improve our quality of life. Work this hard to make our schools a better place for our children. When you have all the real work done than you can argue the merit of these types of fluff items and resolutions honoring this person or that event from dawn to dusk.
In closing gentleman, please give honest consideration and how you could be better serving our commonwealth. With all due respect, this is embarrassing, for you honorable gentleman and our commonwealth. Thank you for your valuable time and consideration as your constituent.

Respectfully Yours,
