2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumDebbie Wassermann Schultz at it again!
This time against her opponent Tim Canova.
She needs to go. NOW.
I'm sick of her & her political bullshit and cronyism.
I messaged Tim letting him know I cross posted here on DU. He's a nice and genuine guy and I hope he chimes in here. It would be most excellent to have him here on DU!

Last week, I called the Florida Democratic Party to request access to the voter file database and software known as VAN that is routinely used by Democratic candidates across the country.
I was told that our campaign would be denied access to this database because I am running against an incumbent Democrat, Debbie Wasserman Schultz. I was also told that any Democratic candidate running against an incumbent Democrat would be denied access even a lifelong progressive challenging an out-of-touch incumbent.
This is unfair and undemocratic. My opponent already has untold advantages against an insurgent progressive campaign like ours. We are refusing to take corporate money, while she has taken millions of dollars from Wall Street bankers, payday lenders, private prison companies, and other corporate special interests. How much more of an advantage does Wasserman Schultz need to silence the voices of grassroots voters in our district?
This is nothing less than an entrenched establishment throwing up roadblocks against our political revolution. Weve seen my opponent do this against Bernies presidential campaign and other progressive challengers. As head of the DNC, Wasserman Schultz has pushed strategies that suppress voter turnout, all to protect incumbents and establishment politicians. She has routinely defended the partys use of Superdelegates to block the will of Democratic voters in state after state.
All of this has made our party weaker and more vulnerable against Republicans in general elections, which is so painfully obvious with the Democratic Partys losses in the midterm elections in the past six years 13 Senate seats and 69 House seats, the biggest loss of congressional Democrats in modern political history.
Bernie Sanders had to go so far as to sue Wasserman Schultzs DNC in December to regain access to his own partys voter database. As we continue to compile alternative voter databases from other sources, rest assured that we will not allow the establishment to weaken our campaign. We will overcome any obstacles and we will fight back.
In solidarity,
Tim Canova

DWS and Hillary LOVE him - because he is a DINO. And that's the difference.

He has cleaned up his act/record considerably, with an eye to being a senator. At first, he was talking about cutting Social Security somehow, but that got scrubbed. New Democrat Coalition, for me, are Third Way-advised DINOs. I don't want two of them, Nelson is a DINO. IMO etc.

Murphy really really wanted "structural changes" to social security and medicare. He is a DINO. He sounds better now, because, as he says, voters are paying attention. Near the end of the interview, the reporters gets him to say he will break ranks with the Democrats.

(29,853 posts)Gyrocopter pilot who landed at Capitol hopes to return as a Congressman
The Florida postal worker who landed a gyrocopter at the U.S. Capitol on April 15 to protest campaign finance laws is planning to run for Congress, his attorney said in a court filing Wednesday.
Douglas Hughes, 62, of Ruskin, Fla., is asking a court for permission to travel to campaign on curbing the influence of money in politics, a job that would include meeting voters, making speeches and soliciting endorsements, his lawyer said. Hughess bid might also test whether felons can run for Congress in Florida.
Hughes faces sentencing April 13 after pleading guilty to one felony count of flying without a license aboard his low-power gyrocopter from Gettysburg, Pa., to the District.
On Wednesday, Hughes asked U.S. District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly of the District to modify his pre-sentence confinement to lift a ban on travel outside Hillsborough County, where he lives, and allow him to travel throughout Florida.

She FAILED miserably as chair of the Red to Blue Program in 2008 when she refused to endorse Democrats who had won their Primaries and were for challenging vulnerable Republican seats. DWS said she didn't want her Republican Friends to be uncomfortable.

(8,175 posts)Thanks for posting this pinebox.
Does anyone know how to check this "rule" out. I am looking but haven't found it. I am concerned that a bad rep/senator cannot be forced out of office. A house rep has unlimited two-year terms, and a senator has unlimited six-year terms. So how does anyone run against an incumbent, unless they are from another party? I mean how do they "fairly" compete if they don't have access to the DNC voter list?
This is not only mean spirited and paranoid, it's just wrong. How do you kick out a bad representative or senator, if you can't have a fair race running a new candidate against them from your own party?
When was this decision made (this rule) and is there any way to break it?
And Recommended!
