Related: About this forumClinton Foundations biggest beneficiaries are the Clintons
Ive stated before that the Clinton Foundation is nothing more than a political operation disguised as a charity. It exists to funnel money to the Clintons and to advance their brand. To keep the excitement in their marriage, Bill and Hillary like to find new ways to engage in graft. Their foundation is like a French marriage or their own: It works better if no one asks questions.
However, in a rare feat of balanced journalism, the New York Times did ask some questions. The paper looked into the nefarious activities of the Clinton Foundation and came up with instances of influence peddling on a grand scale. The Times used the upcoming book Clinton Cash, by Peter Schweizer as a road map to determine that, while Hillary was secretary of state, the Clintons got money when she approved the sale of important U.S. uranium reserves to seedy foreigners, including Russia (read Vladimir Putin). Largely unaccounted for, the money flowed to the Clinton Foundation, with $500,000 going to Bill Clinton for a one-hour speech.
The Clintons thirst for money and power is so insatiable that they would knowingly endanger our national security. Nothing will stand in the way of the Clintons becoming Americas first two-impeachment family.
Its a brilliant scam. Donors give money virtually anonymously to the politically connected Clintons, get a tax deduction, and the Clintons pay them back with political favors.
As do many Democrats, they hide their greed and self-serving behind such noble-sounding goals as promoting social equality or fighting global warming. Thus, the Foundation obscures their greed. Look, I went to Haiti after the earthquake. And, dont look my donors got reconstruction contracts.

(14,195 posts)According to The Federalist, which reviewed Clinton Foundation tax documents covering 2008-12, only 15 percent of the take was donated to pragmatic programs. $25 million went to fund travel and $110 million to salaries. An astounding $290 million, 60 percent of all money raised, was classified as other expenses.

(115,783 posts)the source is a biased one, long noted for its libertarian/Republican leanings. I'd like to see a more objective source - I support Sanders but I'm uncomfortable with using right-wing sources as a basis for criticising Hillary.

(4,757 posts)Friend in DC knows she is in deep do-do, and he is a Hillary supporter. The R's have the goods on her and will be dripping this out if she gets the nomination. That is one reason the pro Hillary coverage on $$$media.
Even if she manages to win the GE it is Clinton Impeachment 2.0 for another four years.
It is going to be real hard press for Hillary to pander to folks making minimum wage for her to "feel your pain" when she makes more in one hour than they make in 10 years.
Friend works for the state at the pentagon.
The term they like to use is Compromised.
Follow the money.
Rumor in Chicago is that Rahmjob will be her running mate. If so, she just lost cook county and probably Il.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,783 posts)And I should also hope she's smart enough not to pick Rahm as her running mate - if that happens she will have no chance of winning over the progressives.
I do agree that she's "compromised" in various ways. She's so deeply imbedded in the fundamentally corrupt mutual back-scratching culture of high-level politics that I doubt she sees the corruption or even imagines it exists. It's like those air-freshener ads about being "nose blind' - if you've been living in the stink for long enough you don't smell it any more.

I say this breaks triple digits easily.
In case Bernie fans wonder why they have a bad reputation amongst actual Democrats.

(27,985 posts)Contrary to what you may have heard, their foundation is highly efficient with only 11% overhead, and has provided $2,000 million dollars to the poor and needy.
Their foundation projects include training African farmers to get access to seeds, equipment and markets for their crops, reforestation projects in Africa and the Caribbean, renewable energy projects in island nations, and work to lower the cost of HIV/AIDS medicine and scale up pediatric AIDS treatment. And heres a picture from Oakland from the Clinton Foundations Too Small to Fail project.

Yet the same week, the story broke about their beloved Planned Parenthood selling body parts from aborted babies. Silence. Somehow, killing babies on a mass scale is OK, but one lion killed is a national outrage. This is a Simba-otic juxtaposition Ive never understood.

Relying on an opinion piece by a right-wing libertarian for information is probably not the best way to troll. Here's a recent passage from one of his columns
http://www.ronaldhart.com/display_column.php?column_ID=725
The disappointing ruling was on Obamacare, which will define Chief Justice John Roberts as he broke with conservatives. Liberals on the court are political pawns who vote together 95 percent of the time; conservatives do so only about 70 percent. There is more intellectual honesty among the conservatives and less purely political toeing of the party line.
...
Obama will do all the shady dealing he can to appoint a liberal, even as almost every liberal constitutional law professor on the news says he should not. Obama was created by liberal professors in the leftist theoretical world they call "higher education." They are starting to realize that he has escaped their laboratory, and they fear what he might do.
