Democratic Senate candidate Tim Kaine is running several points ahead of President Barack Obama in the state of Virginia, leading Republican George Allen by 5 points even as the presidential race remains effectively tied, according to a survey taken for the League of Conservation Voters.
The LCV poll, conducted by Public Policy Polling and shared with POLITICO, found Kaine taking 50 percent of the vote to Allens 45 percent. Obama and Romney, meanwhile, are within a point of each other at 49 percent to 48 percent, respectively.

I hate when articles do this. Let me guess, I have to click the link to get the whole sample.
I'm guessing Obama leads 49-48 since they mentioned his name first, but dammit. Why not just say "Obama (Romney) leads Romney (Obama) by a point - 49 percent to 48 percent?
