http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/18/joe-walsh-abortion-exception_n_1983701.htmlRepublican Rep. Joe Walsh, running against Democratic challenger Tammy Duckworth in Illinois, told reporters Thursday night that there should be no abortion exception for the "life of the mother" because "with modern technology and science, you can't find one instance" in which a woman would actually die, according to a radio station. Walsh, of course, is flat wrong.
"There is no such exception as life of the mother, and as far as health of the mother, same thing," Walsh continued. The comments were first reported by the Illinois radio station WGN.

I'm sure he believes it. There is nothing we can do about that but throw him out of office.
I understand he's trailing at this point.

(1,805 posts)reminds me of my daughter's first husband, Spacey Kacey, who wrote in Joe Walsh - yep, the Eagles Joe - for Prez in 2000. Gee, can't imagine why they got divorced! Luckily, no kids with the cadet.
Now Rep Joe Walsh only won by a very few hundred votes, if I remember correctly, so I'm looking for his deadbeat ass to be looking for a job real soon. Now, THAT resume would be one to see. I bet Tammy Duckworth buries this idiot on 11/6.

(81,419 posts)Let's hope she buries him all the way to the Earth's core, figuratively-speaking of course.
Glad you're here - we need you. And our President needs you too. This thing isn't won yet.
Now get to work.

(2,682 posts)Once a fertilized egg is given "rights", a woman with an ectopic (tubal) pregnancy is doomed to death. It is the fertilized egg, trapped in the fallopian tube for some reason, continuing to grow, causing the tube to burst and the woman to die of internal bleeding. Logic would tell most people that the egg is going to die one way or the other -- either when it is removed when the bleeding is fixed, or it will die with the woman does. The "modern technology" referred to would be a surgical removal of the offending egg and ruptured tube. There can be other medical circumstances where the mother's life is in danger. Don't these brain-dead, ass-holes understand this? Or do they actually have a death-wish for women?
My personal opinion is that abortion should be as available as an appendix removal.

(3,072 posts)E diThe idea that there are no instances where a woman's life would be at risk during pregnancy that would require terminating the pregnancy is pure republican fantasy. Joe Walsh either doesn't know anything about this or doesn't care, either way this scumbag has no business making policy in Washington .
Now of course modern medicine and knowledge has reduced the number of complications from pregnancies and such drastic measures are not as likely to be needed these days but I greatly doubt that is what he was getting at. He is stuck in this right wing delusion that abortions are never necessary and they are just used by uncaring women to get themselves out of a jam. Total bullshit, as you all know.
Now thanks to some gerrymandering on the part of the dems, Joe Walsh is now running in district where I live. I will truly enjoy helping get this ignorant prick out of office
vadermike
(1,416 posts)I wish we could run all these asswipe teahadists out of Congress.. that may take awhile cause some of the districts are gerrymandered.. but we should hold the Presidency, Senate and get back some governorships or at least keep some governorships and win some new ones.. also i wonder how we are doing state legislature wise... i beleive we will hold or get +1 D legistature here in my state
calimary
(81,419 posts)We NEED to hold the Presidency because there will almost certainly be at least one additional Supreme Court appointment coming up in the next FEW years.
We have a lot of trend reversal work to do - to roll back the "progress" the bad guys have been making since that damn reagan made these hideous IGMFU ideas glamorous and broadly appealing.

Plus, it would be unthinkable for her to lose.
