Rasmussen is a much more reputable polling firm than Gallup in the week or so prior to an election. If it's level now, a good performance by President Obama in the final debate will probably have him two or three points up over the final few days.

So immediately after the debate would have 2/3s from before the debate.

This poll has 2/3s after the debate. Tomorrow will have all 3 days after the debate.

.. who usually lean right. Also, without comment, it's hard to even know if this is "likely voters" which is also a model that favors conservatives.

were not impressed with Romney either. They don't think Romney would be a better President then Obama. That is not very good for Romney. He has not made the case with those people disappointed in Obama that he would be the better alternative. Kerry was better on that per Rasmussen and Kerry lost the election in 2004 by two states.

If Romney has been leading in their poll in all the days pre-debate and if, as they claim, he's leading the two days post-debate, then how is Obama moving up?

Maybe the night of the debate had Obama surging for them? But why wouldn't that have shown up in the last two days? Ridiculous.

since those two republican rolling polls seem to be working in tandem.

prove me wrong, gallup. show us that you are a real, independent polling operation
and not working for romney. YOU are the outlier.

How does that make sense, that Romney had the advantage the two days after the debate, but somehow the poll went from Romney +2 to tied in one day?

There's no question that the president won the debate.

Unfortunately, that doesn't mean that he will gain in the polls.

Implying that this number will move back to a small Romney advantage tomorrow if today's results mirror the last two days.

somehow the poll went from Romney +2 to tied in one day?

Which means that last night's figure was better for the president than the polling done on Tuesday.

It's also important to note that the move may be nowhere near 2%. it might have been 48.6%R-47.4%O yesterday to 48.4%R-47.6%O today.

A third of the poll was still pre debate so this could move a point or 2 over the weekend, Obama should be up 1 or 2 by Monday. Gallup should start to move too and Obama will be clearly ahead on RCP by Monday.

I've been saying all week, patience is needed. Romney supporters went through the same thing after the 1st debate, the polls didn;t move for a few days and the bump wasn;t fully realized until over a week. Compound this with another debate Monday and the pitcture for election day will be much clearer by this time next week.

And it probably got the folks at Free Republic upset this morning since Rasmussen is their Polling God.

This means Romney dropped in Rasmussen, and Obama went up.

This is more evidence that the Gallup numbers are off, so it will be interesting to see what numbers THEY post in 1 hour.
