Who would win this hypothetical 4-way race?

It's looking more and more everyday that the GOP is going to boot Trump at the convention. If so, it seems very likely to me that Trump would run as an independent. And if that happens, it's possible Bernie could run as an independent and win. He has gotten nothing but resistance from the party: no money, no infrastructure and any shared voter info he's gotten has been used against him. I'm not saying he should do this, but if he were to run as an independent (only in the event that Trump runs as an independent) where would the pluarility of votes go?

Bernie
Hillary
GOP-Establishment pick
Trump

Period. Don't know why people here keep on hypothesizing that he might.

If Trump mounts an independent campaign the Democratic nominee will win, although if that nominee is Hillary, the Bernie supporters will tend to stay home.

The Hillary crowd just does not understand how much many people think she is genuinely unfit to be President. That of course includes an awful lot of Republicans as well as many Democrats. I'm a Bernie supporter. When I vote in the general election, I want to vote FOR someone, not for the lesser of two evils. I've don't that in the past and I don't want to do it ever again. I have no sure idea what I'll do in November if she's the nominee. I will vote down ticket, but it's possible I won't vote for the top of the ticket.

Trump is poison

Bernie represents positive change

GOP Establishment candidate would beat Clinton for the "safe" vote by also offering a change of party for those who want a ltttle bit of change and don't like Clinton

Setting up an independent run would require enormous resources. I'm not talking about just money. But things like voter files, access at local level party structure, ballot access, getting into debates etc.

...unless ONE candidate gets a MAJORITY of Electoral Votes, the decision goes to the House of Representatives, voting as State blocs.

Add to which, Bernie and Trump won't be on the ballot, because July would be too late to start getting on a number of State ballots.

I took a class on this a long time ago... I don't remember the numbers, but the Germans were very divided and I think Hitler got in with something like a third of the vote.

It's so late I don't think Sanders could get on the ballot in all the states. So I would say, not Sanders would win. I do believe most liberals would view him as deeply morally reprehensible if he did try. I know that I would.

I think the deadline to run as an independent is past, because Bloomberg decided not to on the last day possible describing it as "the risk I will not take," http://www.bloombergview.com/articles/2016-03-07/the-2016-election-risk-that-michael-bloomberg-won-t-take , citing the danger of throwing the presidency to Cruz or Trump. I think it may still be possible to run as a third party, rather than an independent. But I don't know how all of that works. I don't think they would even be able to get on the ballots in all the states. But again I don't know how all of that would work.
