Question: Polling and people that have already voted

How do polls treat people that have already voted?

Question arose after a friend was polled - since she had already voted, and didn't fit into any of the "likely to vote", etc categories, the pollster didn't use her information.

Is this standard protocol?

They asked me if I had voted, if I was a Democrat or Republican and who I voted for President and Senator.
