Everyone beginning to see how important it was for the President to save the US auto industry?

I don't have all the statistics of how many jobs were saved or created but just think about what the emotional impact would have been if GM and Chrysler had actually went out of business. Auto plants closing up all across the country. Would have been devastating to a lot of people to watch those companies close up for good.

As a retired union autoworker that decision by the President meant a lot to my family and I. Who do you think we are all voting for?

It was a damn important decision. Maybe one of the most important decisions President Obama could have made this term.

And keep in mind the entire thing could have blown up in his face real easy. Hell, we even had DUers here who were vehemently against it.

What a brilliant decision.

Imagine there's been one family in your community that has had a dealership since say the 30's or even the 70's. Boosters for local sports teams. Your neighbor. Active in your church. You knew their father and you now buy vehicles from his son or daughter. Almost a member of your family.

If Obama allowed Detroit to go bankrupt, there was a strong possibility that the dealership would have had a dramatic impact, perhaps even closing. And your local community feeling the loss. Loss of commercial property taxes (and your residential taxes going up as a result of the loss). Local restaurants not being patronized by the dealership. The Little League not buying new uniforms this year. And are you going to trust a stranger to explain the prospective car you want to buy? Etcetera.

Everyone I know who is unemployed/underemployed, or just don't like their job, has told me that they have recently applied for employment at the Ford plant I retired from. It gives them hope to know that Ford is hiring. You can see it in their eyes. They won't all be hired, but the hope that they could be one of the lucky ones who does keeps them going. Almost like a reason to keep trudging on. I have witnessed this phenomena around here over and over again.

And they won't understand it until Romney is in power and they get their jobs outsourced, lose their homes, their cars, their belt buckles and end up at a freeway offramp holding a cardboard sign that reads, "Obama did this to me!"

Unless you call going from a $17 billion check and a promise to make a profit to $85 billion and a wholesale restructuring a "tweak."

Pull the other one.

The Bush administration gave the industry a "bridge' loan and kicked the can down the road to the next administration. Fortunately for America, that was the Obama administration.

That way Republicans could then blame Obama when they killed any bailout, but that didn't work.

What you posted is horseshit, thr Right saw it as a way to break the UAW.

Is 'Gulley' short for 'Gullible'?

Through the years,at Union meetings,to illustrate the importance of voting, buying American, etc.,the fact that for every UAW job lost,9 other jobs go with it,was brought up....Good jobs..Blue collar jobs,of course, but good jobs...They'd name them off each time....Tiremakers..The guy that makes brake pads/shoes/linings...Steelworkers....Glassworkers....NINE of them!!...Jobs families could LIVE on!!

Over the years,as I've related that 9-1 stat,I've all to often been astonished that people who SHOULD have known that, too often did not...Usually,those were the guys who'd show up for their shift at a GM plant, driving a shiny new toyota, and couldn't grasp why they were shunned, ridiculed even vandalized...

Yeah buddy!!....You bet your ass, that what the President did with the Auto Industry,is a very Big Fuckin' Deal!!

1) Design a reelection strategy where your opponent can't win without Ohio and Michigan.

2) Make damn sure you get Ohio and Michigan.
