I beleive in Obama. The economy IS coming back

I lost a good paying job in IT in 2007, of course when Bush was running the show. I was unemployed for 1.5 years, surviving off of my wife's salary. I finally had to settle for a job 1/4 of what I was making. In 2010 I had an opportunity to perform contract work, close to my original salary in 2007. Knowing it was risky, I took the position. Being a contractor has it's ups and downs. You have some good times and some bad times (employed vs unemployed). Travel was involved. I was close to making the same, but never hit that plateau. Well that position was eliminated in July and I devoted some serious time in finding a good job locally, or at least a contract job with the right to hire. I have to admit, compared to the past 5 years of seeking employment, it is really starting to pick up. I have had more calls and interviews than ever before. And fortunately, I was given a position yesterday, and I am now making more than I was in 2007. So Romney can kiss my ass that the economy is not getting better. I believe in Obama and his policies. I'm living proof it's getting better out there.

For a few years there DUers were posting about losing jobs and not finding work for years sometimes. Now DUers are posting about getting jobs again. It's anecdotal, but I think DU is a microcosm of the larger world.

We lost quite a few members to homelessness and illness and even death for want of decent healthcare. These times have been so tough.

We can't let Rmoney get in there and screw up what Obama has worked so hard to do. I suspect it will take 10 years to undo what Bush did, and giving Obama 4 more years is 4/5 of that number. I am fearful as hell to see what will happen to the middle class if Rmoney is put in there. It's all about him and his damn money. I don't trust him for a second. Where's his taxes?

I know we're not at 5.8%, which Obama predicted. He was an optimist. I don't have a problem with that. But what did you really expect with the condition Bush left us. I personally think it's great that we're back under 8%

23 million unemployed is just another Romney lie and isn't worthy of repeating on DU. Granted, the nation's crisis of joblessness is bad, but not 23 million bad. The official figure is 12.5 million unemployed. An additional 2.6 million Americans have stopped looking for jobs. That amounts to little over 13 million. Yours and Romney's numbers are off by 8 million - people who work part-time jobs and were added as unemployed.

That 5.8% unemployment is what Hannity said, Smitty. And it's a lie. Why are you repeating Hannity's lies?

Please make your corrections otherwise you'll start looking like a Republican plant.

I don't know what that program would look like, but maintaining a household is a lot of work (especially with kids).

There really isn't any reason why everyone in the country must be working. When you add up a second vehicle, day care, the inefficiencies of everyone running around; from an energy expenditure stand point, it doesn't make sense that we all get up and go to work. People used to raise gardens and can food, and bake their own bread. The idea that everyone should get up and go to a factory that cans goods or bakes bread, doesn't make sense to me.

The economy improves. Large businesses have to shake loose some cash for contract hires to remain competative.
Don't under value your service in the IT industry. Every business needs you!

Good to know aswell the holiday season hasn't even ramped up yet. There will be a lot of hiring going on as each holiday season has been larger sales over the past couple years.

Not just local sales either, due to the Presidents policies, America has increased export sales a lot.
