Interesting point about the TV audience for the 3rd debate

from politicalbettingodds.com:

"The next debate is scheduled for Monday, October 22nd at 9pm EST... right in the middle of Monday Night Football where the Chicago Bears will be hosting the Detroit Lions in Obama's home state, Illinois. How this will affect the ratings and the size of viewing audience will have to wait to be determined."

is that the debate will be held in the same town where Mitt infamously opined about the 47%.

It's not like the old days when if you didn't watch something live then you missed out forever.

And as far as the 'ratings number/viewing size' - the number doesn't include folks that watch on C-Span and/or live-stream online.

Extra TV's or not, men will not be watching this debate in huge numbers-they will catch the reviews and polls later, and women will be watching the debate in larger numbers.

I'd guess Detroit/Chicago will draw solid numbers for ESPN but it's not appointment TV unless you are a fan of either team. Chicago is having a nice season though.

If I had to guess this will be the third highest rated of the three, but then again there were a lot of people hand wringing over debate 2 not drawing very many viewers and it did. The subject matter might also knock it down a bit. No matter how much the media wants to push Libya this is an election that is being fought over the economy.

17. Why does every debate collide with a Football game?

At 24 hours/day * 7 days/week = 168 hours why is it that every time a presidential debate is on it always is up against a NFL game?
That is a 1/168 chance = 0.59% probability of happening each week.
