None of it's a mystery.

Hillary favors Wall Street and the military industrial complex.

Bernie favors the people.

What else is there to say?

abortion rights are non-negotiable
no more Middle East adventurism and regime-change
no more Kissingeresque foreign policy
break up the banks
end corporate welfare
break up the big banks--too big to fail is too big to exist
strict limits on campaign donations
corporations do not have the rights of individual people

In some people's eyes, permissible "talk about the issues" is, for example, arguing against Trump's plan to deport Muslims. Now, I'm just as much against that plan as anyone else, but it doesn't really need to be discussed on DU.

By contrast, Clinton's record on TPP and other trade agreements is certainly a legitimate issue. I believe Sanders's record is superior. To criticize her record, however, is to be lumped in with the "Hillary-haters", in my own experience.

In sum, I agree with your OP as I interpret it. I must note, with sadness, that other people would interpret it differently.
