(11,175 posts)In some people's eyes, permissible "talk about the issues" is, for example, arguing against Trump's plan to deport Muslims. Now, I'm just as much against that plan as anyone else, but it doesn't really need to be discussed on DU.
By contrast, Clinton's record on TPP and other trade agreements is certainly a legitimate issue. I believe Sanders's record is superior. To criticize her record, however, is to be lumped in with the "Hillary-haters", in my own experience.
In sum, I agree with your OP as I interpret it. I must note, with sadness, that other people would interpret it differently.
