(57,349 posts)There are four "reporters" at Daily News Bin: Cara Harris, Tim Martyn, Christy Bishop Cricow, Reggie Smith, and Anita Finlay Harris, Martyn, and Smith seem not to exist. The only "Christy Bishop Cricow" I can find with a Google search is an interior designer and sticker manufacturer who lives in Eugene, Oregon. Anita Finlay Harris is a real person, who hold right-wing/libertarian views (she's a regular contributor to the right-wing The Jerry Doyle Show, the right-wing Americans Talk Radio Network, the right-wing Midpoint With Ed Berliner, the right-wing Talk Radio Network, and more). But if you search Daily News Bin for anything she's written, nothing comes up. Nor does a Google search of her name and Daily News Bin.
If you read the articles on Daily News Bin, it's clear the site is a poorly written pro-Hillary Clinton site. It does nothing but promote Hillary Clinton. It talks as if Hillary Clinton already won the Democratic nomination for president. Now, Daily News Bin pretends to have Tech, Music, and Entertainment sections. But if you go to them, you discover them either empty or full of pro-Hillary Clinton articles.
I'm all for political Web sites. But this is a joke. It's so poorly done, I'm shocked anyone believes it.

(57,349 posts)I guess some people hate Bernie so much they're willing to go just about anywhere for hit pieces on him.
Might want to invest in a flea collar before going back there, you know what they say about laying down with dogs. I wouldn't want you bringing any friends back here.
Loki
(3,825 posts)Then you really don't have anything worth saying. People can debate their ideas but those without use insults to hide their lack of those skills. Simply put, talk about why you think your person is better. I have only heard rumor, innuendo, insult and rants about how much you dislike the other. Not much of a recommendation.
Curmudgeoness
(18,219 posts)that the insults started long before this thread. BMUS was right about the source in her first post, and you jumped on her and accuse her of being a Republican shill. She has been here a long time, and has been a very liberal poster for all that time. Just because someone is not in love with Hillary as a candidate does not mean that they are Republicans.
I suggest that you and your friends take your advise and start posting about the things that make your candidate the best choice instead of denigrating the other candidate. I come here to learn more about the candidates and the issues, and all I see is attacks against the candidates. There is a lot of "rumor, innuendo, insult and rants" to go around on both sides.

(3,825 posts)I saw their banner on TV during the inaugural parade. I was here with Will Pitt, Khephra, Crewleader, a long, long time ago. We were told to just "get over it" then, but we had a reason to be angry. What is happening now is we are turing on each other and that's exactly what they, the republicans want, along with the eternal Rat Fucker, Karl Rove. Read the article from the NYT. This is the Rovian game plan. I can post opinion pieces all day long from a variety of places, but they are opinions, and everyone has one. What I am reading about Hillary and Bernie on this board has very little to do with reality and I think that is where we need to start paying attention, or we will have another election stolen and Republican's put in charge of everything. You want a disaster, well we will have one.
Curmudgeoness
(18,219 posts)but look at the Hillary group here. 99.9% of the posts are anti-Bernie or slamming Bernie supporters. Take your discussion there, where they could use it. I am just as opposed to eating our own as you are. The difference is that I have not been slamming Hillary here.

When you have to dig up stuff from the bullshit Daily News Bin as a means to throw something at Sanders, you have hit ABSOLUTELY rock bottom. Why not use actual reputable sources and not this hackery that is posted in the OP. Daily News Bin for fuck sake.

What happened over at MSNBC this week? The network, which had spent the past three months acting as a nearly de facto media arm of the Bernie Sanders campaign and pretending he had a strong chance of winning even as he was mostly getting blown out, appears to have suddenly decided to take things in a different direction. First it was Rachel Maddow going off on his top strategists claims the other night. And now her colleague Chuck Todd seems to have had enough, criticizing Sanders as getting cranky.
http://www.dailynewsbin.com/news/chuck-todd-bernie-sanders-is-getting-cranky/24310/

berated, had mail sent to her, her family has been harassed, surely you know that African Americans have called monkeys and apes right? Bravenak is black posting a picture of a monkey to her is in some eyes calling her a money. I am pretty sure she doesn't know about this being the year of the monkey. I sure didn't and had you responded with the same response to one of my OP's it would have hurt my feelings.
marions ghost
(19,841 posts)that the poster is African America, and even if I DID I would not have thought it a problem. It is a picture of a monkey. Just a monkey. It is a mischevious Chinese monkey year---JOKE JOKE.
I am sympathetic with Black Lives Matter and all that has happened. My father was a young journalist who dared to write a negative story about the KKK in the South--back in the 50's when that was NOT ok. I have marched with people for racial justice and equality. I am a current member of the NAACP. (Maybe sounds bogus but is true). My next door neighbors (who are my friends) are black--I could give you more.
But what's the point. I've been categorized just as bad as ANY racist would do it. I just don't SEE race--do you understand? I see people, not race.
I apologize to Bravenak --but I feel I have done nothing wrong, nothing with any bad intent. I will certainly avoid responding to Bravenak in the future if I'm going to be seen as some kind of racist stalker from now on. Trust me this hurts.

(109,000 posts)as only a person with white privilege can, if you say you do not see race.
Do you think any black person can EVER be safe in the US unless she is always paying attention to race?
http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/jan/26/do-not-see-race-ignoring-racism-not-helping
People love to tell me that they often forget that Im black. They say this with a sort of a-ha! look on their faces, as if their dawning ability to see my blackness was a gift to us both.
When I point out that their eyesight had never left them, that my skin has never changed colors, and that they probably did not really forget that I am black, they inevitably get defensive. First, they try to argue that it was a compliment; the smart ones quickly realize that complimenting someone on not being black is actually pretty racist, so they switch gears.
I dont see race! is usually their next tactic, followed by I am colorblind, though they never give credit to Stephen Colbert. By colorblind they dont actually mean that they cant see green or red; rather, they are suggesting that they cant ever be racist, because they dont register skin color at all.
This ideology is very popular like a racial utopic version of the Golden Rule but its actually quite racist. Colorblindness doesnt acknowledge the very real ways in which racism has existed and continues to exist, both in individuals and systemically. By professing not to see race, youre just ignoring racism, not solving it.

(19,841 posts)I appreciate your posts but did not know you are black.
PLEASE do not take me so literally--or at least, give me the benefit of the doubt. But no...I see it's shoot first, ask questions later.
When I say I don't see race--I don't see it when on DU. I don't bother unless somebody makes a specific reference to it, to find out. I honestly don't read posts to figure out everybody's background whatever it may be. It's better to be impersonal, treat everybody the same here.
I don't believe that I am one of the people who "forget you are black." Guess what--I get that. So OK if you use me to get those thoughts out there, fine --but I am not one of "those people." For other reasons I am what some would consider "an other"--let's just leave it at that. I know discrimination, I know the pain. I identify with it. Of course I see differences--but I don't emphasize them in interacting with people--unless somebody wants to go there. I will go there and hold my head up you can be sure. I have no guilt, no shame whatsoever in this.
I appreciate people of different cultures, background, diversity. No I don't erase everybody and make them white. No I don't do that.
I am not what you want me to be -- so with all due respect please call off your pack of guard dogs.

(109,000 posts)That piece I posted was written by someone else.
I'm not black but do have black family members and friends, and I'm aware of the awareness that they must have. They don't send their children out into the world telling them they should aim to be color blind. They wouldn't be safe that way.
And I still don't understand how, given the way you describe yourself, you didn't realize the picture you posted could be offensive. Or why you didn't delete it once someone pointed it out to you.

(19,841 posts)it is a monkey laughing at the idea that Sanders should give up (which IS the topic, I thought).
I did not know the OP's ethnicity. So I'm truly sorry if it offended, but I stand by my innocence.
If nothing personal was meant by it, there is NOTHING there. But. A monkey. Laughing.
It IS the Chinese year of the mischievous monkey (which I can understand people not knowing).
But you can look it up.
I do not in any way suggest that people of any race should be brought up to be colorblind. Since I can't see people on DU I do tend to be color blind on DU. But not in real life. Trust me I get the need for protection.
I think the charges of "Racism" "Kill the Post" are unfounded. I stand by my TOTAL innocence.
This is a pile on. Which does not endear me to Hillary supporters, but I can live with that divide. I cannot live with any charge of racism. When my life-- from the time I was a child growing up in the South has been all about racial, gender, sexual equality--you name it--equality. never otherwise.

(1,151 posts)Using derogatory "monkey" imagery to respond to a black person is a massive, MASSIVE dogwhistle. Period. End of discussion. And the more defensive you get, the more racist you look. You can shout your anti-racism from the rooftops but when black people tell you certain imagery is offensive, you roll with it. And btw, I'm voting for Bernie so do not fucking take it as some Hillary "race-baiting" shit.

To further symbolize it I said this year is the Chinese fire monkey --the year 2016--which should bring a lot of mischievous mayhem. And I think it is certainly doing that in the American elections-- ?!
anyway when I got back from work and saw this racist stuff, I was amazed, that's how far it would be for me to hurt somebody because of their race. I am still mind blown.

btw that avatar is a stock avatar on DU are Skinner, EarlG, and Elad neo-nazis since they offer that avatar that isn't used by the neo-nazis?
Also known as: Odins Cross, Sun Cross, Wheel Cross
The white supremacist version of the Celtic Cross, which consists of a square cross interlocking with or surrounded by a circle, is one of the most important and commonly used white supremacist symbols. Although usually called a Celtic Cross by white supremacists, its origins date to the pre-Christian "sun cross" or "wheel cross" in ancient Europe. Norwegian Nazis used a version of the symbol in the 1930s and 1940s. After World War II, a variety of white supremacist groups and movements adopted the symbol. Today, this verson of the Celtic Cross is used by neo-Nazis, racist skinheads, Ku Klux Klan members and virtually every other type of white supremacist. It has also achieved notoriety as part of the logo of Stormfront, the oldest and largest white supremacist website in the world.
The Celtic Cross, as typically depicted, is a traditional Christian symbol used for religious purposes as well as to symbolize concepts like Irish pride. As such, it is a very common symbol and primarily used by non-extremists. Most renditions of the traditional Celtic Cross feature an elongated vertical axis (often accompanied by Celtic knotwork) that resembles that of other Christian crosses. Although white supremacists will occasionally use this version of the Celtic Cross, the overwhelming use of this version of the Celtic Cross is non-extremist and, in the absence of other hate symbols, does not denote white supremacy or racism.
It is the short "sun cross" version of the Celtic Cross, surrounded by a circle, that is more commonly used by white supremacists, although even here care must be taken always to judge it in context.

But what's interesting about this is that the usual crowd of people that squat in this forum from sun up to sun down, day in and day out, and shit on every single thread here, ESPECIALLY if it's from bravenak, are actually far outnumbered by people saying that the post is unnecessary at best, offensive at most. And even when asked 1000 times to leave the objects of their desire, I mean hatred alone, they just can't. And they honestly believe that it's the targets and not them that are and have the problems. Would be hilarious if it wasn't indicative of something pretty serious.

I don't know what your problem is with me or life in general but I TRULY cannot express upon you how I little I care about either.
Yeah one of us has issues! And it's probably the one who is so REPEATEDLY concerned about what the other posts to other people because they never, ever, EVER respond to them. Which is exactly why they have to chase after them so terribly often with al of this "concern" in the first place.

(59,506 posts)The Brock led media outlets that have done nothing but raise negative issues - mostly based on almost nothing.
Not to mention, the young girl, who did not look like a goon to me, who asked Clinton what could best be called a rhetoric question was from Greenpeace, an organization that has worked on these issues - sometimes in a confrontational way - for decades.
The issue of protesting a political figure is pretty tricky. However, the Bernie people who interrupted Clinton were far less obstructionist than the BLM women in Seattle - partly because it was a HRC rally and she has more control than Bernie had speaking at a rally that was not a Sanders rally.
By chance, the Seattle rally happened right before a family gathering of mine. My Seattle area based daughter and a nephew, born and raised in Seattle, who had lots of friends who had attended the rally were furious that they had deprived the huge group of people there from getting a chance to hear Bernie who they had come to see. (Neither my daughter or nephew themselves were there.) They also were angry that that the women did not even give Sanders an opportunity to answer their attacks or explain his own positions or his own history.
Another daughter, who is politically active and who marched in NYC when Eric Gardner was killed, explained that BLM was intentionally confrontational, because that was needed to be heard -- and that Sanders, in effect, was just collateral damage. As someone who had protested in the 1960s, though mostly just at the college I attended, and who had taken my three then pre teen and teen daughters to protest the imminent Iraq war in early 2003, I could then see both sides - where before I would have agreed 100% with my daughter from WA. The idea that, if you support something or want to fight something the establishment wants, protests where you do disrupt are probably needed to get attention.
What the young Greenpeace activist did was actually no different than what the BLM people did. In fact, where the BLM people successfully took over the event and actually denied Sanders a chance to speak, the ONLY reason that the Greenpeace activist got coverage is because HRC got so angry and responded as she did to a person with the fraction of her power. (Imagine that Bernie, backed by the Seattle police, would have responded as HRC did to the young women of color. Who would you be calling a goon?)
In fact, DU's search power enables me to see that you were completely untroubled that BLM totally obstructed Sanders -- vs the Sanders people at one event of the Greenpeace girl in the other who did not remotely have the power to take the mic from HRC.
Here is what you said then:
"No they won't. You wish they would cause you want to.
But we are going to promote the cause LOUDLY. How they hell can a person be president if this breaks them down? Obama got heckled by a fucking congressman during the SOTU. This is not the apocalypse. You guys overreact and threaten to remove supoort from black lives and we think it's racist so more heckling to come. "

Yes, we need to beat the Rethugs...but there's no good reason to ever run another lesser-evil campaign.
The longer Bernie stays in(assuming he doesn't get nominated)the greater the chance of HRC NOT giving up totally everything progressive she supposedly supports.

ALERTER'S COMMENTS
This post is abusive, is one in a series of personal attacks, targeting DUers, and features yet another personally abusive Sigline.
I'm not sure what it would take to teach these people to leave aside their personal off-site grudges and to lay off harassing a particular poster on DU, but can we start with a hide and go from there? This vindictive abuse is making this site toxic, to such a poisonous degree that even the end of primary season will not cleanse the site of the divisive hate.
Please hide.

Explanation: The person this poster is referencing often writes provocative and offensive stuff. (67,782 posts)....you should be aware of the fact that if a Clinton supporter posts a paragraph or two they're immediately swarmed upon and assailed as though that paragraph or two were the words of the poster, not a quote from the article, and in many cases the post is alerted and hidden.
Try clicking on the link and reading the article before you characterize a post as "worthless". You may change your assessment of it.
