2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWhen Bernie enthusiastically endorses Clinton for President
How will Bernie supporters react? He's going to campaign for her too and be an strong ally once she's in office.
And the reverse, if Bernie secures the nomination, how will Clinton supporters react after Hillary endorses Sanders and starts campaigning for him?
I ask, because I see some supporters posting article after article that are straight up Republican talking points about either candidate.

(146,336 posts)It's one I wish more people thought about, really. We still have many primary elections to come. Eventually, we will know who the nominee will be.
For me, the primary season is over. Now, I'm waiting for the convention to tell me which candidate I will be campaigning for to help win the general election.
I do wonder what some will do, though, if the candidate they are currently attacking becomes the nominee. I think it will be difficult for many to walk back those attacks, which will remain visible long after the convention.

(13,326 posts)You don't mean it in the sense "She's got it in the bag."
MineralMan
(146,336 posts)This is not about that. I'll gladly support and campaign for either of the candidates.

(10,565 posts)if he won. I think it would be very rough sledding for him in the GE as he has been handled with kid gloves by Hillary and the media. He has never had to face a Republican attack machine the way Hillary has for decades-what he's faced so far is dodgeball.

(30,481 posts)The group of Paul supporters that jumped on board with him will act out with righteous indignation, some others will go back home to supporting Stein, the democrats supporting him will say it wasn't our day and love his endorsement.
When Clinton endorsed Sanders...... It will be pretty much met with silent acceptance that he will be the best choice in the GE.
You are correct about the republican talking points. It has really taken a lot away from du.

(30,481 posts)Did you see my link where DFA was using "republican talking points"?
I don't call that "free stuff" and find it irresponsible to do so. I think anyone who does go out there calling it "free college education" and the like are doing a great disservice to our fight for a better society.
I still don't get the point you are trying to make. That is you concern when Judicial Watch is promoted here?
Armstead
(47,803 posts)I won't disagree with you about using Judicial Watch as a source.
But Clinton supporters regularly add otehr Republican talki9ng points (right wing memes) to the discussion, such as the use of the term "free stuff" to refer to any public programs and benefits. It's a favorite conservative put-down of liberal policies.
So if you object to how republican talking points detract from DU, you might also want to object to it whatever the source.

So the question is.... when HRC enthusiastically endorses Bernie for President... and the response is????

(12,689 posts)Assuming that Clinton wins the nomination, Sanders isn't going to endorse her. There is no way he could seriously endorse her without looking like a hypocrite and part of the establishment he has railed against.

(4,311 posts)Hillary will stump for him with a smile on her face and be as enthusiastic as she was for Obama. That's exactly as it should be, and as a Hillary supporter I would expect nothing less and would be disappointed with her if she didn't.
I expect the exact same from Bernie. He better be out there, stumping like mad with a smile on his face, kissing babies and telling everyone how much he is loving Hillary and her platform. Just as she would do for him.

(1,377 posts)There is actually finally some posts on issues related to Hillary on this forum and Hillary supporters are posting to them. We need more posts like this one to drive the actually issue debates off the front page. Them make Hillary look bad because she "borrowed" most of them from Sanders and all the faux attacks about Sanders is just not cutting it.

myself and many other bernie supporters won't support her even if bernie endorses her.
Clinton supporters have to worry about winning in november especilly after calling bernie supporters every name in the book and moving to the right to bash bernie and what he and we believe in.
